Cui Bono?

Most commentators are assuming that the decision of the FBI not to recommend prosecution of Clinton is good news for her and bad news for Trump.  I don’t think the political calculus is so  simple.  Looking at this purely from the standpoint of Donald Trump, this might have been the best possible result for him.

If the FBI had announced today a recommendation to prosecute Clinton, the Democrat convention might well have decided to nominate Sanders instead.  Sanders does better than Clinton in polls against Trump.  This is the year of the outsider, and the socialist Sanders has successfully portrayed himself as an outsider.  If Clinton did prevail at the convention, it is by no means a given that her indictment would be political death.  Satan could be running for President on the Democrat ticket and he would probably get 45% of the vote.  News of the indictment would quickly become old hat, especially as the extensive and confusing legal maneuvering that goes on in a high profile federal prosecution.  Clinton would not come to trial until after the election and I would not wager that an indictment would prove a decisive issue in November.

If Clinton had been facing prosecution after today, Trump would have one of his key issues ripped from him:  that the system is rigged in favor of the politically powerful and connected.  Instead, FBI Director Comey basically said today that Trump is completely correct and the system is rigged for people like Hillary.  Trump has a powerful issue that resonates with a majority of the public and is easy to understand.  No, I don’t think that today was a bad day for Trump.

“Satan could be running for President on the Democrat ticket” Given who’s running that party nowadays, he might as well be.

If I remember correctly, Zaphod Beeblebrox was the most corrupt, ridiculous person in the universe. He was elected president for the sheer spectacle of it. If we somehow sewed Trump’s and Clinton’s heads onto the same body, that’s who we’d have. There could be no worse choice than these two. Of course, as Ben Shapiro has noted, when the Republicans nominate a monster, the party is being torn apart, but when the Democrats nominate one, they all fall into line behind her.

I don’t recall that Zaphod Beeblebrox was corrupt, t least any more than any other hippie.

“Ben Shapiro has noted, when the Republicans nominate a monster, the party is being torn apart, but when the Democrats nominate one, they all fall into line behind her.”

And that’s why, if the Repubs can’t get over themselves and get in behind their presumptive nominee, that Crooked Hillary will be your POTUS – third term Abama and worse – for the next, possibly, 8 years.
Goodbye United Sates of America, as we have known you 🙁

Has anyone noticed the beautiful mug shot?
Golly gee….she looks like a resident of Arkansas Correctional Facility for the habitually Corrupt.

@Down under Don.

No Way mate!
America will survive the likes of Aleister Crowley aka Hillary Clinton. The damage control issues will take time to repair, but America will thrive in time. The black magic will fade into the deepest crevices of the sulphur pit. She, like himself Hussain O, will be remembered as examples, not hero’s in the history of these United States.

The first’s will be the lasts.

Donald has it right. Most folks (65% or so) think Hillary is guilty despite her OJ “exoneration”. Trump will make the most of it for sure. And Hillary will try to stay away from the subject as it basically sticks. So.. count this as a win for Trump.
