Saint Jacques Hamel Pray For Us
Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 41 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
An Alter Christus was murdered as he was presenting our Lord to two Daughters of Mary.
In this, the Pope and the Bishops Iin union with him only matter if they care. Perhaps they don’t as they should. I do. All that matters now are those who care. Jesus was profaned in His Holy place. His servant was murdered. His daughters saw things they should not have seen.
Whoever you are; wherever you are; decide this day that life is not worth living if you face this evil, some approaching day, and decide to run rather than die in defense of your God. Do NOT run. Decide this now. Stand.
Muslim cowards pick easy targets, true. They prefer aged, cripples, children, distracted and unaware. You may never get the chance to intervene. But IF given the chance, get it straight in your head, do not let them go unpunished.
I have had enough. I am ready. It is time to punish them.
GOD bless this holy man. How awful, how truly horrible! Christians cry out to The LORD for help and protection from evil! Blessed Mother, pray for us!
It is wrong to seek to punish:
” ‘Vengeance is mine,’ sayeth The LORD.”
However, we MUST seek justice for this holy man and all those like him who have been murdered, and we MUST make our world safe for ALL GOD’S people everywhere.
How terribly, terribly sad that the mainstream media has not delved into this horror. Instead, they seek to glorify a woman who not only approves of, but seeks to escalate abortion as the law of the land. GOD help us. Amen.
I think it is premature at this juncture to call him as Saint Jacques Hamel. For one, we don’t know enough about his life to say one way or the other. He may very well be a saint. But let the competent authority of the Church make that determination after the necessary investigation. That being said, I would wholeheartedly support looking into expediting the opening of his cause for canonization. However, unfortunately, I don’t think that will happen, given that opening his cause for canonization would undermine “Islam is a religion of peace” narrative put forth by Pope Francis and practically every bishop in the west.
Greg, you can say that, true,
You can also just observe the simple fact that Fr. Hamel was hacked to death on the Altar of God serving Holy Mass; BECAUSE he was offering Holy Mass; killed for the Faith, BECAUSE he was God’s Holy Priest. I mean, just stop for a minute and think what happened in that place, where Jesus was brought down in the midst of that evil.
The vision of John’s Apocolypse shows there is a special place in heaven for the White Robed Martyrs.
We should venerate them. All of them. Canonized or not. Our turn may be coming.
Pretty sure TAC doesn’t count as an official organ of the Church; the distinction is real, and important, but I think pointing to the martyrdom is a bigger deal.
In the ancient tradition of the Church, all those who were killed for their Faith in an obvious fashion were automatically designated Martyrs, and therefore elevated to be saints in heaven.
Yesterday, our humble gathering of aged tired souls prayed the Holy Rosary for Fr. Jacques.
Every Tuesday at 4pm we gather together.
I did not give out the details of Father’s demise, but they knew he was slain at the altar of sacrifice. They, in their eighties and nineties, offered what they could for the soul of this man God.
As more Syrian refugees are entering our home of the free, I give pause and ask God to help us treat them in kindness…and I ask God to give us the strength and courage to knock down those who come to do U.S. harm.
This is a time of great testing.
Love neighbor and love God.
Resist evil and lay your life down for a friend, priest, stranger and family member if in harm’s way you find yourself.
Saint Maximilian Kolbe was prepared to give himself up for another. A stranger. A family man. May we have the courage to do likewise if ever we face death from any ideology, foreign or domestic.
typo….Man Of God…not man God.
Father Hamel is with the saints forever.
Pere Hamel is in Heaven. He is a saint already. He is a martyr for the faith. He died defending the BLESSED SACRAMENT, thus he was sacrificed on the altar of GOD. Surely great Saint Joseph, the patron of a happy death, who protected the Virgin Mary and the Infant JESUS, was with Father Hamel when he died. All the dead who are in Heaven are saints; that is why we refer to the “communion of saints” in the ” Apostles’ Creed.” Some are simply OFFICIALLY recognized. GOD bless this beautiful soul and GOD protect us all. Pere Hamel, pray for us! Amen.
. To Don’s point, there would have to be frequent cases of this for clergy to agree to set up layman teams nearby the altar to defend priests. Outside of Mass, we had in NJ a priest killed by a vagrant as the priest went for a pistol in a drawer which I thought was forbidden to clergy whom Aquinas said were not to shed blood. For those clergy who abide by the older rule, tasers would be excellent and might have saved this French priest because these were close proximity knife assailants. NY just increased taser spending because they have cases of their killing knife weilding deranged people whom the taser could stop short of death in some cases. Relatives are not going to report cases of the mentally ill waving a knife if police are going to shoot them dead rather than taser them. Tasers…priests should have them. TASR is the stock symbol for the company that makes tasers…it is up 65% year to date and 24% in the latest month but has a price earnings ratio above 90 which means when it finally is sold by a big hedge fund, it will go down big. But with NY reporting a switch to tasers, that bad stock day could be far off….because other cities will follow in ordering them. In some of the innocent black cases…not Michael Brown….tasers could have ended controversy and tragedy both. PS….if Hillary gains pollwise toward November, watch Smith and Wesson rise…stock symbol SWHC.
Philip, God Bless You and your holy band of Faithful!
Brian.

Has anyone remarked on the dedication of the Church?
« Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray » is, of course, dedicated to the Protomartyr St Stephen, whose name, appropriately, means “Crown” [Στεφανος] Étienne is the French diminutive form.
@MPS.
WoW.
Great insight.
Thank you.
Appropriate indeed.
Bill-
the only thing with “clerics” shedding blood I could find in a fairly quick search was in the matter of making war, not self defense.

It’s entirely possible the priest was aware of how many people treat guns like totems, and will be scared out of whatever horrible sin they’re about to commit by seeing one.
In memory of another wonderful Priest; not killed for his faith per se, but still a wonderful story of two godly men who died defending the Holy Eucharist from profonation. And one Priest who kept his head straight long enough to give his young friend Last Rites, to send him on his way to eternity as he so deserved.
Fr. Walker (RIP), and Fr. Terra (FSSP), brave, faithful soul. May I be as ready as they were.

@Brian.
Fr. Walker and his classmates testimony is the kind of news we need to propagate.
His extraordinary love for Christ and stupendous devotion to Mary, reflected in the veneration of the Miraculous Medal, gave me great pleasure and sadness. He was called home early, but as it was so beautifully written, like the little flower, he is busy working for souls…but now doing it from Heaven.
Nice piece Brian.
Thank you.
A very sound Catholic University too…
Great news.
