  1. Once I read a story of a couple of American POWs who had seen this film. When the Germans drove them up to the requsitioned French chalet they remembered the film and burst out laughing at the sight of it. Everything that happened after paralleled the film so much that they continued to lose their composure and laugh. One later said “The Germans thought we were a couple of nutcases”.
    Hey, victory by any means, right?
