Why I Love Dogs

An old tale states that when Adam and Eve were expelled from the Garden of Eden all the animals turned their backs to them except the dogs, who got up and trotted out into the wilderness with them.

God knew how hard this Vale of Tears could be and He gave us dogs to lighten our way.

Thank you Don, for this and the picture. I’m reminded of Greyfriar’s Bobbie, the little terrier that stayed by his master’s grave.
Notice the epitaph on Bobby’s grave: “Let my (?) love and devotion be a lesson to us all.”

And Satan countered by tempting us with cats

Near this spot are deposited the remains of one who possessed Beauty without Vanity,
Strength without Insolence,
Courage without Ferocity,
and all the Virtues of Man,
without his Vices.
This Praise, which would be unmeaning
Flattery if inscribed over human
ashes is but a just tribute to the Memory
of BOATSWAIN, a Dog.

Corgis are handsome and interesting.

However, if you’re not living in the country, they will forever have to take a back seat to the most elegant of land mammals. As we speak, Amazon Prime is distributing Feral Love, a profile of Dorian Rence of the New York Philharmonic and her life as a crazy cat lady. Most engaging.

One thing you can learn from your dog: for one moment, live in the moment.

My (suburban) experience, most “owners” are not dog people and none of us is worthy of our “best friend.”

Then, our Buddy eats that piece of chocolate (someone left it within reach. . .). Insult to injury: he refuses to throw the wrapper in the trash.

T. Shaw: you know, of course, that chocolate is really, really bad for dogs; because of caffeine?

Dr. Kurland, We do.

This was a rare occurrence. A small piece of chocolate candy was inadvertently left within reach while the Warden put up on the mantle the Nativity set.

Buddy receives better health care than I; and rightly so. Twice each day he receives two anti-seizure meds and eats prescription dog food.

OK, I figured you knew that, but I was confused whether you had left the chocolate or a guest. And it’s a shame there isn’t Medicare for canines. Our spaniel lab mix has a higher monthly prescription bill than I do.
