Better Start Deleting Your Posts Mark

Things are about to get serious for the smear merchants, looking at you Mark Shea and Bishop John Stowe, who libeled the Covington students:

The family of Covington Catholic student Nick Sandmann has hired top Atlanta libel lawyer L. Lin Wood to represent their son as they potentially embark on lawsuits against the mainstream media outlets that smeared the adolescent. (WATCH Nathan Phillips From The Last Time He Accused Students of Racism).

The witch hunt against the Covington Catholic students — which coincides with speculation that Catholic Amy Coney Barrett could be nominated to the Supreme Court — has disgraced the mainstream news media and galvanized American patriots across the country.

L. Lin Wood is not a man to be messed with.

Go here to read the rest.  It’s fun being a bully until you pick on the wrong victim.

Recall Amy Welborn’s post from earlier in the week:

Anyway, let’s move to Catholic apologist Mark Shea, who began his Facebook post on the matter with:

The MAGA goons were threatening confrontation with a small clutch of black protestors. (sic) As is done in his tradition, Phillips intervened with a drum and a chant to draw fire to himself. It was an act of peacemaking. The goons then mobbed and mocked him and he did not respond in kind. This was classic non-violence. The attempt to paint this as “elderly man with drum terrorizes 70 innocent athletic douchebags” is a narrative only the Right Wing Lie Machine would have the gall to promote

So, to repeat, Catholic apologist Mark Shea characterized the students from Covington Catholic High School as “MAGA goons” and “athletic douchebags.”

Classic libel.  Mark, unless you are too insignificant to bother about, I think you are about to get a crash course on libeling non public figures.  Enjoy!

Tough, but it’s the only way this crowd will learn.

It should never be a first resort, but sometimes you just have to spank your kid to teach them that actions have consequences. A lot in the media and on social media have demonstrated this past week that they clearly weren’t spanked enough growing up.

To paraphrase what I saw elsewhere: there’s a reason politics had a rule of don’t go after the children. Because all animals have a visceral, vicious reaction to their offspring being attacked. Attacking kids is how you get war.

A lawsuit now will hopefully remind people of this fact and prevent violence in the future.

What Mark and other Catholics have done and said about those poor teens is a disgrace. I expect it from the Left today. But from Catholics? Somebody should go to someone with authority about that, but given Stowe and other leadership, I don’t know that it would make a difference.

Shea has been going further: after a few days he started to repeat some elements of the initial false narrative, then started with further false assertions that the students are racist because they supposedly dressed up in “black face” once and allegedly hollered something at a black student during a basketball game. Of course his fellow leftists are doing the same- rather than apologize and admit they were duped by the phillips guy, they try to find something so they can try to claim they were justified because these kids really are racist, see, because we found “proof.” I hope somebody does sue Shea one of these days- he engages in slander, calumny, detraction on a daily basis and is guilty of everything he accuses others of.

One of Mark’s most endearing traits going back years has been his willingness to mercilessly attack and accuse people of doing what he proudly boasts of doing himself.

It would be interesting to find out on what issue the church hierarchy in the U.S. has weighed in on more —and more strongly—New York’s Infanticide Protection Act or Covington Kids Fail to Mind Their Own Business Because They Are the Business.

My guess is, to the extent the church hierarchy is talking about Covington, it’s because they don’t want to talk about New York.

Mark Shea is a small-audience Catholic writer who hasn’t a pot to piss in. No one will bother.

An insurance office employee in suburban Orlando named George Zimmerman was deemed a ‘public figure’ because he’d been the subject of a police investigation. Ergo, an NBC affiliate was not liable even though they quite deliberately doctored an audio recording to injure his reputation (and poison a jury pool). The best thing you can say about the judiciary is that the media are worse.

After learning more than I ever wanted to know about Mark Shea’s problems from “Lazarus whatever his name was” (who has since been banned from TAC), I really don’t want Mark to be wrecked by a law suit. But I do want him to stop his continual slander and calumny. What he is doing is no different than what the serpent did when he lied about God to Eve and said, “You will not die when eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil….” Mark has got to stop his nonsense before this escalates to a point where his suffering in this life becomes unbearable. I remember when my AA sponsor told me, “God will let you go through whatever suffering you chose if that’s what it takes to save your sorry behind.” He didn’t use the word “behind” however. I just hope Mark repents before he sinks into the abyss.

This brief moment of sanity will now pass as I return to being a toxic male barbarian somewhere to the right of Attila the Hun.

Dear Bishops Foy, Kurtz, Stowe, Mark-who?, et al,

While they were waiting for school buses to take them home, the Covington school children were assaulted by two groups of perpetually-outraged adults (many with criminal records – including Chief Nathan), you child-hating rodents.

“I really don’t want Mark to be wrecked by a law suit.”

I don’t want him wrecked, but what must be done to stop him before he hurts others? Mark has launched calumnious assaults on any host of people merely for not aligning with his leftist politics. I’m all for not hurting someone, but at some point how long will the Catholic Church allow someone like that to define it in the minds of those who know of him. Not to mention the harm that particular cadre of apologists is willing to inflict if possible.

And he does have a following, including among others who have followings themselves, and the word spreads from there.

Dave Griffey,

God has a way of letting people reap what they sow, suffering accordingly until they straighten out and fly right. Heaven help Mark when that happens to him because God loves him enough to do whatever is necessary to save his soul from the eternal damnation that slander and calumny merit. The writer of the Epistle to the Hebrews says it’s a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God (Heb 10:31). Mark could well be approaching that state. God knows I did when I went through heroin withdrawals some few decades ago.

Has anyone ever wondered why these bishops aren’t walking in the cold on the March for Life with the sheep…alone with the Godless wolves?

The bishops at one time did walk on the pro-life March. but then they forgot God.

over from Facecrime:

The young men are minor citizens. It is incumbent upon an adult to behave in accordance with his citizenship as an adult and to provide for the minor citizens, good will for the common good, the corporal and spiritual works of mercy and any moral and uplifting wisdom. This is the bottom line for adults. Minor young men need the time and space to mature. Time and space were denied to the young men. Criminal accusations, slander, character assassination and assault were heaped on these young men.
These young men were denied their freedom to mature and experience the public square as it ought to be. Their patrimony was denied to them as American citizens.

Could be age, distance to travel other responsibilities etc.

Or it could be that the American hierarchy has decided, whether formally or only informally, that they don’t want the March for Life to be perceived as too Catholic.

An excellent question. The manchildren running our nation need to man up and become patriots and patrons.

Many years ago, I went to a Church-organized, pro-life demonstration along a busy Long Island highway.

Never again! Peace-loving, tolerant rats drove cars threateningly close; others pretended they were photographing us. I had my kids there.

I confess I don’t go to pro-life marches for two reasons. One, my enlarged prostate, I have to pee all the time. Two, too many witnesses.

No Jesus. No peace.

Why are we holding kids to an adult standard?”

No, why are we holding these kids to standards we never hold anyone else – kid or adult – to when convenient? I mean, some of the ones demanding nothing less than perfection from these kids have no problem blowing beer out their nose when one of their own launch attacks and assault or flip middle fingers at people.

Shea is a jagoff, and I’m being kind.

Dominik Tarcynski, Pole and member of the Sejm, from Breitbart:
““Dear American Friends — dear students — be brave as your President has been brave. Bravery is very important at this moment in time, for America and for the world. We need you. Be brave!” he said.

Pulling no punches, the Polish parliamentarian said the U.S. mainstream media had been guilty of “manipulation of the facts.”

“This is about honest reporting of basic facts. In my opinion—considering the whole situation—there are some members of the American Media that are engaged with full manipulation of the facts,” he said. “These students were harassed — they did nothing wrong — and yet, even now, so many are targeting them and blaming them.”

“It’s absolutely uncalled for, and unfair. This is why I thought it would be a good thing to have representation from the school, at the Polish Parliament, to have them as witnesses to this debate, fairly,” he said.

Mr. Tarczyński said he wanted to provide the boys with the chance to “witness to our experiences as Catholics thrown into the public sphere — about the role of Catholic Youth in public and political discourse throughout the world.”

“Frankly, I did this as an act of solidarity, of support — these young people need support, and their voices, unhindered,” he said.

When I saw these videos, “I found myself witnessing just terrible, terrible harassment and I felt they needed support,” Tarczyński said. “They need support now. You see this example isn’t only isolated to America. It isn’t just ‘American Catholics.’ It’s not even about Poland. This is about honest reporting of basic facts.”

“What the Left is trying to do — especially in Europe — is to force us to separate Faith from the State, to separate your actions at work from your beliefs,” he said.

“Those pushing this narrative cannot use a logical argument, so they try to push us aside and delegitimize our voices,” he said. “They try to restrict even our rights.”

In the case of Europe, the battle also touches on the question of Christian identity, Tarczyński said.

“This idea of ‘openness,’ ‘diversity’ and all this humanistic, secularist rhetoric — when you simply look at the history of our continent, the history of Europe it was logically based — built on Christian Faith and a culture derived from that Faith,” he said.

Dear Covington Catholic students,

I’d like to invite You to the Polish Parliament

After watching this video, I Am now standing up for these wrongfully accused young men and all of You!

You are very welcome to come and speak out what You believe in!

Shea can shove it. I’m far from being the best Catholic who posts here, but my Catholic faith isn’t for Shea or some weak American bishop to judge.

Penguin Fan, Thank you for your comment including the letter from Dominik Tarcynski of the Sejm. He truly understands what is at stake for America and Western Civilization. It is dangerous that so many of our American Catholic hierarchy are naive. Too busy covering their six and little concern for their sheep.
