The title of this post is probably the first and last time I will use that phrase.

As Joe Biden predicted last year, a foreign policy challenge has arisen for our inexperienced commander-in-chief.  Chavez, dictator of Venezuela, has offered an air base for Russian strategic bombers, and the Russians are thinking about it.  They are also considering basing bombers in Cuba.  Last year Russian bombers visited Venezuela, although the Russians at that time announced that they had no intention of basing planes there.  I guess times have changed.

This of course is a probe to see what, if anything, Obama does.  If Obama does nothing the Russians, Chavez and whichever Castro isn’t comatose right now, will assume that further steps against the US can be taken risk free.  In the strategic balance a few Russian bombers don’t have much military significance, but the challenge does has a fair amount of international significance.  The whole world will be watching the next moves of Obama.

  1. Bad stuff. MSM chortled about Tina Fey’s spot-on Sarah Palin- accurate but not condescending. Now SNL has moved onto the Clown Prince of the Obama Adminstration. Sad tendency. In Shakespeare, the court fool is the one who tells the truth.
