In a related development, the National Pork Council issued a statement decrying the release of the photo as “fraudulent” and in no way indicative of the true culinary tastes of the American people. “Our industry is proud of the ham, bacon and other very popular pork products that our nation has consumed, is consuming and will continue to consume in vast quantities,” a spokesperson said.
