Obama =Theodore Roosevelt

The death-knell of the Republic had rung as soon as the active power became lodged in the hands of those who sought, not to do justice to all citizens, rich and poor alike, but to stand for one special class and for its interests as opposed to the interests of others.

                                     Theodore Roosevelt

Well, I see that President Obama is seeking to emulate Theodore Roosevelt.   I have been thinking about it, and Obama is exactly the same as Roosevelt.  Let us count the ways:

1.   Theodore Roosevelt raised the Rough Riders regiment and was awarded the medal of honor for his extreme heroism in leading the charges of the Rough Riders up Kettle Hill and San Juan Hill in the Spanish-American War.  He was the only man mounted in that fight and it is a miracle he survived.  All accounts testify to his complete contempt for death that day.  Obama was a community organizer in Chicago, a town noted for inclement weather.

2.   Theodore Roosevelt was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for taking the lead in the negotiations which led to the treaty ending the Russo-Japanese War.  Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for not being George Bush.

3.    Theodore Roosevelt wrote 43 books, his favorite topic being America, the land that he loved.  Obama has thus far written two books on the subject that he loves above all else, himself.

4.     Theodore Roosevelt was a highly religious man who regularly attended church.  Obama engages in regular morning worship when he looks in the mirror to shave.

5.    Theodore Roosevelt engaged in a never-ending battle against political corruption throughout his career.  Obama and his associates have helped provide work for prosecutors investigating political corruption.

6.     Theodore Roosevelt was an early advocate of female suffrage.  Obama, and his former Acorn associates, firmly believe that voting is a good thing and should be done by voters as frequently as possible at each election.

7.      Theodore Roosevelt during his tenure as president ran an overall surplus in government receipts.  Obama has a plan to balance the budget several decades after his presidency.

8.      Theodore Roosevelt believed in foreign policy in speaking softly and carrying a big stick.  Obama believes in speaking loudly and getting the stick to marry a stick of the same gender.

9.       Theodore Roosevelt’s face is carved on Mount Rushmore.  Obama’s likeness has inspired manufacturers of dart boards around the nation.

10.     The American people have never forgotten Theodore Roosevelt.  As the American people, and their descendants, work to pay off the portion of the national debt amassed under his administration, I am sure that the American people will never forget Obama either.

You forgot that they both have catch-phrases:
“Bully” and “Let me be perfectly clear.”

Teddy inspired thousands of versions of the Teddy Bear; Obama inspired thousands of versions of the various deficit charts.

This may be relevant. It is a story that has been doing the rounds of the net – you may have already seen it. I believe it started in Texas a month or so back. Enjoy.

“The reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

Is this man truly a genius? Checked out and this is true…it DID happen!

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama’s socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, “OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama’s plan”. All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an A…. (substituting grades for dollars – something closer to home and more readily understood by all).

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.

The second test average was a D! No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

To their great surprise, ALL FAILED and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.
It could not be any simpler than that. (Please pass this on)

Remember, there IS a test coming up. The 2012 elections.

These are possibly the 5 best sentences you’ll ever read and all applicable to this experiment:

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.”

Can you think of a reason for not sharing this? Neither could I.

Don: Great story about Obama and the college prof, but isn’t it apochryphal? I’m sure I heard that one before Obama was even elected. On the other hand, it may yet be true. I get the impression so-called Progessives really don’t learn much and just because it happened in one classroom, and made the rounds, doesn’t mean it didn’t happen in another classroom.

You may well be right, and as I said, you may have seen it in the US before today. But being down under here on the fringes of civilisation 😉 the story has had quite a good reception.
We have recently had national elections and the current governing party, National (supposed to be right of centre, but actually almost slightly left, despite the National party’s founding principles), won the election handsomely, with the Socialist Labour party getting its worst result in 90 years. Much of their support went to the Greens (watermelons – green on the out side, red (commies) on the inside). Our present system of govt. is MMP – Mixed Member Proportional, with 60 seats being Electorate seats, and 60 seats being Party List seats. I intensely dislike the system as it often gives minority parties the deciding vote, and thus we get some stupid concessions. Fortunately this time, that will not happen.
Unfortunately, the general populace in NZ is quite left leaning – a legacy of the Labour govt in the 30’s which did a great amount of good, and which the Church supported. But Labour has in the past 4 decades become quite socialistic, supportive of gay rights and social engineering and all the other PC crap, but people fulfi the saying that old habits die hard.
But I think the Obama story has an appeal generally, and as it is more widely disseminated more and more people will realise the dead end that Socialism is.

A little off topic but since it is the season . . . My brother made it up on the deer stand this year. As you can surmise, we had lots of time and no venison this year.

The 99% Christmas Carol
(to Oh Little Town of Bethlehem)

Oh listen please Mr. President,
We are the 99%.
We say the banks have all the dough,
And our parents pay our rents.

I should pay my student loans,
but I want mass anarchy.
You’ll forgive our debts, this we know,
Higher education should be free.

My neighbor work all day and night,
to afford his house and home.
But G4 iPhones have increased in price,
And I can’t afford them alone.

As we leave Mr. President,
We thank you for this talk.
Now step back please Mr. President,
I must poop on the sidewalk.

Reverend William J.H. Boetcker

You do not raise up the working person by pulling down the employer.
You do not help the poor person by destroying the rich person.
You do not lift up little people by tearing down big people.
You do not strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You do not help people by doing for them what they can and should do for themselves.
You do not build character and courage by tearing away a person’s initiative and independence.
You do not advance the brotherhood of all people by fostering class hatred.
You do not encourage prosperity by discouraging thrift.

Politicians and demogogues promote separatism – “eat the rich” – do not (Please, God) represent the majority of Americans. For America to survive in peace and harmony (both of which have been impaired by 98 years of liberal elite tyranny) we must have one people, one nation and one flag.

We need to avoid a Hobbesian nightmare “where every man is an enemy to every man” and hordes of “poor, nasty, brutish” people viciously attack and tear at each other.
