Action films have always been a favorite of mine and nothing comes close to action as those from the 80s. With Expendables 2 coming out any man worth his salt will make a beeline to the nearest theater to watch an ensemble of some of the best of the 80s and today’s action stars.
In addition to Stallone, Willis, and Schwarzenegger you see my personal favorite Jason Statham along with Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Chuck Norris, and Jean-Claude Van Damme. Of course there are more, but I’ll let you all figure the rest out in this trailer.
What, no Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson?!? Maybe he makes a cameo appearance….
I believe Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka makes a flying debut. . .
Chuck too! The only action star from the last 20 years missing is Wesley Snipes.
To me there will always be only one true action film hero:
True Grit.
Have yet to see the original, but if it is better than the new version, I can’t wait to watch it!
The True Grit remake is the best Western made Tito, in my opinion, since the death of John Wayne. I was sceptical when I began watching it, but I was immediately converted by the fine performances and the strong religious theme that pervades it.
“You must pay for everything in this world, one way and another. There is nothing free except the grace of God.”
I enjoyed watching the first movie. This one looks great! Possibly better than the first movie.
“The only action star from the last 20 years missing is Wesley Snipes.”
And Steven Seagal.
As far as best Western since the Duke, I’d call it a tie between “True Grit” and “Unforgiven.
Will Munny: Who’s the fellow owns this s***hole?
[pause]
Will Munny: You, fat man. Speak up.
Skinny Dubois: Uh, I… I own this establishment. I bought the place from Greeley for a thousand dollars.
[Will levels the shotgun, and speaks to someone standing behind Skinny]
Will Munny: You better clear outta there.
Man: Yes, sir.
[scampers out of the way]
Little Bill Daggett: Just hold it right there. Hold it…!
[Will shoots Skinny. Screaming, the women scatter upstairs]
Little Bill Daggett: Well, sir, you are a cowardly son of a bitch! You just shot an unarmed man!
Will Munny: Well, he should have armed himself if he’s going to decorate his saloon with my friend.
