  1. Unlike many other posters on this Blog, I like Romney. But I like Santorum more. That said, I worry about Santorum’s ability to be elected or to lead. While Romney is a social conservative, social issues are not his passion and he does not wear it on his sleeve. This makes him more acceptable to the middle, I’m afraid. I do think that a bona fide passionate social conservative can be elected and can be a successful president, but only if he or she has extraodinary leadership ability and skills of persuasion. See Ronald Reagan. But a dogmatic conservative without such abilities is probably unelectable and would probably be an ineffective leader. Santorum has not demonstrated such abilities, yet, at least to me. I hope he can and does. I think he is a good man, but worry he would be an ineffective president even if he is electable in the first place.
