From the only reliable source of Catholic news on the net, Eye of the Tiber:

If only . . .
“His Holiness is hereby grounded”. More time for prayer and contemplation.
That explains the pickup truck full of carrier pigeon’s and coop entering St. Peters.
A pontifical Time Out might not be a bad idea. 🙂 🙁
On a serious note. While visiting my son April 9-15 in San Francisco, I attended daily Mass at Old St. Mary’s Cathedral/Holy Family Chinese Mission. The Paulist fathers are in residence there. I couldn’t believe my ears when the priest in his homily talked about how controlling the Church was, specifically in controlling who receives the Eucharist, and that the denial of Communion reception for such Catholics probably affects those who need the grace the most. No mention about the necessity of being in the state of grace to receive the sacrament or that the sacrament of Reconciliation is available daily at 1235 after the noon Mass. This was at the noon Mass. I don’t know if he was a Paulist or a visiting priest. Although he had a very slight, maybe African, accent, it appeared that he thought in English as well as speaking it. In other words no translation problems. Sadly after the service I didn’t ask him about his homily. Maybe I was still in shock. All the other homilies were non controversial. Palm Sunday was in Chinese and English so I can’t comment on the Chinese version.
