Quotes Suitable for Framing: Bishop Melchior Cano

Melchior Cano

“Peter has no need of our lies or flattery. Those who blindly and indiscriminately defend every decision of the Supreme Pontiff are the very ones who do most to undermine the authority of the Holy See—they destroy instead of strengthening its foundations.”

Send that quote to Voris and Scalia…it’s like a diamond in the sky if I may quote a young female singer from Australia’s Got Talent.

Bill, Voris would probably tell Cano to write a private letter to the Pope!

Stephen,
You are correct. But then Popes should utter the non traditional in private where they can’t do damage to future murder victims through radical non deterrence. On no life sentences, Pope Francis could only go back decades (1969 really) to current Vatican City Law…and spoke as though those changes were delivered by the angel Raphael. Between 1796 and 1850, the papal executioner Bugatti (wiki him…fascinating) executed 500 criminals and not all for murder under five Popes. Was Raphael asleep during those times?Time flies when you’re traditional within your own lifetime only.

Rejecting the spread of public scandal of a man in a Sacred office is not the same as defending the actions of that man in Sacred office.

Does God need your help in slamming the Pope if ever any allegations of corruption brought against him are true? No.

Does the Pope need your prayers if ever any allegations of corruption brought against him are true? Ah…. yes. Isn’t that a better use of the limited time and energy with which the Lord has gifted you?

I had to look up Cano – very interesting. New Advents entry about him does make me think of Michael Voris. ” Cano undoubtedly displayed great energy, vehemence, and determination in the pursuit of his aims”
Cano wrote a very clear study of sources of authority “of Scripture, oral tradition the Catholic Church, the Councils, the Fathers the Roman Church, the Scholastic theologians, the value of natural reason as manifested in science, the authority of philosophers, and the authority of history.”
Like Michael, He had his critics. But he did so something. He was in the fight.

Not only should there be criticism of Popes. Popes should face tough debaters on TV. Their immunity is producing the absurd in our documents. In section 42 of Verbum Domini, Pope Benedict stated that the prophets ” challenged every form of…violence….individual and communal.”. Elijah killed a minimum of 552 men on three different occasions; Eliseus was mandated by God to kill any of the House of Ahab that escaped the sword of Jehu who was a prophet/king who killed the House of Ahab in large numbers. The prophet Samuel killed Agag because Saul failed to as ordered by God. Jeremiah tells the Chaldeans they are cursed if they hold back their swords from killing the Moabites. But Benedict says the prophets ” challenged every form of violence…individual and communal”…. and an entire Catholic writing world refuse to correct him….while probably every Amish household knew Benedict was biblically incorrect….lol…though they loved his pacifism. The prophets did oppose rich Jew violence against poor Jews repeatedly….Benedict dimly recalled those passages and then somehow turned that detail into an absurd generalization that no one in high places would correct…or low places because the traditionalits were just glad to have a Pope who fosteted the Latin Mass.

It would be surprising if someone born in the pontificate of Julius II and dying in the pontificate of Paul IV had been an indiscriminate eulogist of the measures and policies of the various popes under whom he lived; more especially, as the good bishop was a Spaniard and the Habsburg-Valois rivalry was being fought out in Italy throughout his lifetime.

bill bannon: “Pope Benedict stated that the prophets ” challenged every form of…violence….individual and communal.”” Pope Benedict understood and was teaching the difference between vengeance and vindication.
.
“Elijah killed a minimum of 552 men on three different occasions; Eliseus was mandated by God to kill any of the House of Ahab that escaped the sword of Jehu who was a prophet/king who killed the House of Ahab in large numbers. The prophet Samuel killed Agag because Saul failed to as ordered by God. Jeremiah tells the Chaldeans they are cursed if they hold back their swords from killing the Moabites.”
.
These people worshipped Idols instead of the true God of Abraham and sacrificed their infant children to Moloch. Infanticide. These people thought to sooth god’s anger against them for idolatry by murdering their children. The prophet Samuel killed Agag saying: “”As your sword has made women childless, so shall your mother be childless.” and he hacked into pieces.”” Is there a better description of capital punishment? Agag was read the law before he was executed at the command of God.
.
Jeremiah was ordered to clean the land of child killers in the same manner that the Allied forces cleared the concentration camps.
.
But Benedict says the prophets ” challenged every form of violence…individual and communal”…. and an entire Catholic writing world refuse to correct him…. Because Benedict asserted Justice. Gandhi said that if people followed “an eye for an eye, the whole world would be blind. This is not true. To assert the force of the law against corruption, sin and crime would bring about Justice and all the promises in the Preamble of the Constitution would be fulfilled.
.
“…while probably every Amish household knew Benedict was biblically incorrect….”
.
Especially the Amish, whose children requested to be the first murdered by an insane aggressor, understand what it means to lay one’s life down for a friend, sister and neighbor. When people say as did Samuel: “Here I am Lord, I come to do your will.” I lay my life down for my friend, as did Jesus. When a criminal murders an innocent child, he violates everyone’s personal commitment to do God’s will. The state represents each and every person in the condemnation of the capital one murderer. When the capital one murderer is not treated to the death penalty, every individual must be incensed, first, by not being the murderer’s chosen victim and second by having Justice eradicated.
.
“…traditionalists were just glad to have a Pope who fostered the Latin Mass.”
.
Pope Benedict corrected Vatican II by reminding the faithful that the Latin Mass was never banned. The Latin Mass was never banned by Vatican II. So, what is Pope Francis doing trying to suppress anyone who loves the Latin Mass, the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate and the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate?
.
St Michael inflicts an armed force against the devil.
