Ditto Patrick

Pat Archbold calls a spade a spade:

How much longer we will have to endure this sort of disingenuous dreck of what amounts to little more than Catholic cover of democrat party initiatives?

In his statement on President Obama’s constitution-busting executive orders on immigration, Bishop Eusebio Elizondo, M.Sp.S., auxiliary bishop of Seattle and chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) Committee on Migration twice references the extra-legality of the move by saying that any such actions must be “within its legitimate authority” that these “pastors” (yes, the scare quotes are appropriate) welcome ANY action “within these limits.”

WASHINGTON—Bishop Eusebio Elizondo, M.Sp.S., auxiliary bishop of Seattle and chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) Committee on Migration, welcomed the news today that the Obama administration will defer deportations for many undocumented immigrants and their families.

“We have a long history of welcoming and aiding the poor, the outcast, the immigrant, and the disadvantaged. Each day, the Catholic Church in the United States, in her social service agencies, hospitals, schools, and parishes, witnesses the human consequences of the separation of families, when parents are deported from their children or spouses from each other. We’ve been on record asking the Administration to do everything within its legitimate authority to bring relief and justice to our immigrant brothers and sisters. As pastors, we welcome any efforts within these limits that protect individuals and protect and reunite families and vulnerable children,” said Bishop Elizondo.

By welcoming this action, an action for which the President himself publicly claimed no less than 25 times that  lacked legitimate authority, the USCCB adopts a “by any means necessary” approach to its public policy preferences.  That smacks of consequentialism, don’tcha know.

That the action lacks legitimacy and authority is implicitly acknowledged and dismissively side-stepped in the double “doth protest too much” reference of the statement to legitimacy and limits. The apparatchiks at the USCCB know full well that the President lacks the authority to conduct this action, they just don’t care. In this way, they are just like the progressives whom they unflaggingly support.

Go here to read the rest at The National Catholic Register.  I had hoped that our bishops would have learned something of the dangers of State power by the contraception mandate.  Apparently not.  The USCCB has about as much to do with Catholicism in most of its initiatives as Bill Clinton does with chastity.

Sometimes the twisted relationship between the USCCB and the Democrats
reminds me of a hooker to her pimp. The bishops are chasing after the
Dem’s approval, abandoning all their values and self-respect in the process.
There doesn’t seem to be a limit to the degradation they won’t embrace.
The Democrats, on their part, are using them for their own ends and feel
nothing but contempt for those bishops who let themselves be so used.
.
The only thing missing is for some representative of the bishop’s conference
to defend the Democrats by telling us “well, they only hit us when we really
deserve it”.

Abdicating to Caesar our individual responsibility to help the immigrant and the poor abdicates to Caesar our very freedom to be citizens and Catholic Christians.

Years ago I was discerning a priestly vocation. Instinctually, the sticking point for me was the ‘obedience’ part. Obedient to God – yes. Obedient to another human (i.e. Bishop) – not so sure. When I see the way these cowardly bishops play footsie with the Dems – the very Dems that aim to eradicate the Church – I know I made the correct decision not to become obedient to them.
Do these people know that they are hurting vocations?

Voting demokrat is not one of the Corporal Works of Mercy. It is as salutary to one’s Spiritual well-being as forcing someone else top go to the gym does for one’s physique.

I long ago commenced regarding the liberals as democrat party operatives who, coincidentally, go about clad in religious habits or Roman collars.

“Undocumented” means that Obama’s executive orders have no authentic authority to define the rights of the “un-citizen”, no more than Obama’s executive orders have authentic authority over aliens from other countries who are under the auspices of their own nation until they become citizens. When the “undocumented” become citizens, then and only then, will Obama’s executive orders have any validity.
.
An executive order to endow the illegal invaders with citizenship without their knowing our laws and our culture and the prerequisites of citizenship is not within the chief executive’s power, no more than giving a person a college degree or an Honorary degree by an individual not associated with the college.

UCCSB: Render to Obama the things that are Obama’s and render to Obama the things that are God’s. King Obama’s actions re 5mm new Dem voters may backfire-e.g. when made aware, en espanol, of Dem support for 3rd Trimester abortion, 45% of Hispanics voted for Republican Abbott in Texas. Spread this word and spread the word at http://www.sinvotedemocrat.com.

Pre-election Letter to Brownsville newspaper:

Voting Democrat called mortal sin

Imagine 11 million more Hispanic voters in America. Imagine 1 million more Hispanic voters in Texas. The reason this is mere imagination and not reality is because of the racist eugenic abortion program of the Democrats and their president.
Obama and the Democrats have made it clear that they will use all their power to promote abortion; to fund abortions with taxpayer money and outlaw any restrictions on the court-created right to abortion, even those concerned with the health and safety of a mother.
The Democrats and their president have advocated for, enacted and enforced racial eugenic targeted abortion (RETA) funded with tax dollars, which has resulted in the death of millions of minority babies, primarily black and Hispanic children. Of 56 million dead babies since the Supreme Court invented the right to abortion, an inordinate percentage are black and Hispanic babies, almost 60 percent — although their mothers account for less than a third of the population.
What the KKK failed to do, Planned Parenthood has achieved far beyond its founder Margaret Sanger’s dreams of ridding the USA of what she called human undergrowth.
Echoing Archbishop Raymond Burke: The Democratic Party is now the party of death.
No other issues morally trump issues of intrinsic evil such as racism and abortion — not immigration, poverty or war. Today a Catholic voter who has learned the facts about the Party of Death, and who votes for any Democrat, necessarily has the intent to support abortion and RETA, and formally cooperates in grave evil, committing a mortal sin. This is detailed in the document Virtuous Citizenship 2014 available at http://www.sinvotedemocrat.com or http://www.pecadovotardemocrata.com.

This morning, a news blurb saying Obama’s immigration policy will cost two trillion. Another killing blow by the Party of Death, our economic well-being. More widespread poverty here as people flee derelict states south of our border. More poverty, more abortion, loss of souls, and loss of the hope for the rest of the world which our once great country contained.

Good on you. It’s a Spritual Work of Mercy: Admonish the sinner. In charity . . .

I was disheartened when I saw my local Catholic Charities applauding Obama too. (I guess the memo is getting around the Catholic network.) It is causing me to pause in how I may make my annual diocesan. I do not want CC to get my $$. I cannot support lawlessness and this embrace of the “ends justifies the means” mentality.
