Now It’s Personal

I play a lot of historical war games on computers, ipads and android tablets.  Apple has decided that I should no longer play Civil War games on my ipad:

Apple’s Tim Cook has recently spoke against displaying the Confederate flag, so I suppose this development was to be expected. However, censoring historical games (if that is indeed the reason why the game’s have been pulled) is always very tricky because those games don’t glorify or promote a cause but, rather, represent historical events using the symbols and insignia of the period. However, I can also see the political and social pressure mounting at the moment, which makes pulling the games the “safest” action for Apple. What do you think? If Apple has indeed pulled the games for displaying the Confederate flag, is Apple’s action justified, or was there another way to eradicate racism and remove the symbols and words that feed it, as Tim Cook put it?

Update: It’s looking like Apple has pulled everything from the App Store that features a Confederate flag, regardless of context. The reasoning Apple is sending developers is “…because it includes images of the confederate flag used in offensive and mean-spirited ways.” We just spoke with Andrew from HexWar Games, who have released many historical strategy games. He insists, “We’re in no way sympathetic to the use of the flag in an offensive way, we used it purely because historically that was the flag that was used at the time.”

Go here to read the rest.  It is time for this moronic garbage to stop.  Apple honchos?  1984 was a work of fiction not a guide for corporate management.

Update:

This letter from the makers of Ultimate Gettysburg deserves to be read by all Americans:

As you may have been already informed (Read Facebook link), Apple has removed our game from AppStore because of usage of the Confederate Flag. Ultimate General: Gettysburg could be accepted back if the flag is removed from the game’s content.

We accept Apple’s decision and understand that this is a sensitive issue for the American Nation. We wanted our game to be the most accurate, historical, playable reference of the Battle of Gettysburg. All historical commanders, unit composition and weaponry, key geographical locations to the smallest streams or farms are recreated in our game’s battlefield.

We receive a lot of letters of gratitude from American teachers who use our game in history curriculum to let kids experience one of the most important battles in American history from the Commander’s perspective.

Spielberg’s “Schindler’s List” did not try to amend his movie to look more comfortable. The historical “Gettysburg” movie (1993) is still on iTunes. We believe that all historical art forms: books, movies, or games such as ours, help to learn and understand history, depicting events as they were. True stories are more important to us than money.

Therefore we are not going to amend the game’s content and Ultimate General: Gettysburg will no longer be available on AppStore. We really hope that Apple’s decision will achieve the desired results.

We can’t change history, but we can change the future.

1984 was a work of fiction not a guide for corporate management.

No doubt some of the hipster millennials at Apple were watching their old ads, came across the famous 1984 Super Bowl ad, and thought it pretty awesome. Unfortunately they stopped watching about halfway through and missed the part where the woman tossed the javelin at the screen and thus missed the point.

Tim Cook is a hypocrite – an open and avowed homosexual who gleefully does business in the Muslim world where he would be whipped, beaten and executed for what he advocates here.

If anyone doubts that big business isn’t run by a bunch of leftists – see Tim Cook. I despise
Bill Gates, his lousy word processor and his advocacy of Planned Parenthood. I will still take a Microsoft product over Apple.

Does Aople still sell games having the Nazi flag or the Hammer and Sickle of the Soviet flag? I find those offensive. Why not ban them?

Richmond Battlefield National Park, which doesn’t appear willing to play along with all the hysteria, just posted this on Facebook a few hours ago:

Wonder if someone who posted this is trying to make a statement? And if that person will have a job tomorrow?

What of the rainbow flag?

It sickens me that rainbow flags promoting sodomy as a “choice”, and not what it truly is, a disorder. Apple? Apple who?

I play war games, too, albeit of the non-electronic version. We are now in the same boat Germany is where inaccurate models must be portrayed to avoid Nazi insignia. No war gamer is getting his kicks imagining the vast slave empire he is fighting for. Most historical gamers know the score. They’re fighting the battles, for Heaven’s sake. Historical detail is important. Nice corporate one-size-fits-all PC decision, Apple.

I believe the real war against God, against the Truth of Christ, and against the true Catholic Church by those within Her are more important than computer games and particularly more important than Apple or Tim Cook, who I believe, will find he is fighting a war he can’t win when he meets his maker.

Just bought on Steam. Two-fer, since the kids can use it for history when they get older.

“I believe the real war against God, against the Truth of Christ, and against the true Catholic Church by those within Her are more important than computer games and particularly more important than Apple or Tim Cook…”

The actions taking place against truth–the truth of history–& the stripping away of the historical foundations of the US–is a HUGE part of the war on Christians & the Church. The same people who r trying to ban the Confederate flag r for the most part, the same folks who want to destroy the Church.

Anyone who knows anything about the mass of the generation knows that electronic games r VERY much a part of their lives. They aren’t interested in Algebra but extend untold amounts of energy on video games. What is in those games matter.

These people who delight in their cultic fetish of offense don’t want our American children learning anything remotely attached to events during this time period s.a. A. Lincoln’s reasoning re: God’s having brought the Civil War on our nation as just punishment for the nation having allowed the evil of slavery. See link to AL’s 2nd Inaugural below for his thoughts on this.

We just had to pass a law in my state saying that our state board of education was allowed to cover this time period at the high school level. I have posted it below.

1st these people start banning secular symbols in a society. Then the move to other symbols– as u know–they r well on their way to stripping any Judea/Christian symbols from the public realm.

It occurred to me just now that if this Roof loser had shot up a synagogue after recently converting to Islam, the very same people currently demanding that all evidence of the losing side of our civil war be “memory-holed” would instead be wringing their hands about a non-existent anti-Mulsim backlash, while assuring us that this “lone wolf” was in no way representative of Islam, which means “peace,” and that there was absolutely no larger social significance to be inferred from such a “tragic” and “random” “act of violence.”

Except for the gun part, of course. Because guns make people do bad things, donchya know?

Anyways, for the first time in my life, I’m tempted to buy a confederate flag.

Mr. Cook is an imbecile. There is no polite way to state what he is.

I do truly believe that the race bIters cud not bear the Christian love & unity on display in Charleston among the differing races. I believe they kept pushing buttons & searching until they came up with an angle from which they cud control & profit in power & finances. Note that it was only after the push to remove the Confederate flag began to truly gain momentum that that profiteering, race baitor Al Sharpton got an appointment to meet with the SC governor. This is pure, cynical, hardball politics & profiteering.

Barbara Gordon.

Everything you said in your comments is true.
This is diabolical. The forces of evil have won over so many hearts. They prey on the minds and souls of kids. Our Prayers must be consistent and increased, since this infection can only be cured with divine intervention.

Why has no one ever banned Grand Theft Auto? I mean doesn’t it promote rape?? what’s the difference?

Missy.

I’m not a game enthusiast.
I can’t answer your question, however your use of the word rape has perfectly described what takes place to the young mind when messages contrary to truth are repetitively before the eyes and ears of the participants.
My opinion only, but what goes in does determine what comes out.
