If It’s Tuesday There Must Be Primaries

cruz-trump

1:13 AM  CST-Trump wins Arizona decisively.  With 59% of the vote counted he is at 47%, Cruz follows at 23% and Kasich is at 10%.  (It should be noted that Arizona has had early voting going on for a month.)  Clinton also wins Arizona decisively with 59% to Sanders 38%.  In Utah Trump is in third place with Cruz thus far at 65%, Kasich at 20% and Trump at 14%.  Sanders thumps Clinton with 75% to her 25%.  Media outlets have called Utah for both Cruz and Sanders, but the percentages given are based upon fairly small numbers of the votes thus far reported from the caucuses.

Update:  4:18  AM CST:   With 84% counted, Cruz is at 69%, Kasich is at 17% and Trump is at 14%, and Cruz gets all 40 delegates.  Sanders is at 80% while Clinton is at 20%, but somehow she gets 5 delegates to his 18 under the Democrats proportional rules.

By taking Arizona, a winner take all state for the Republicans, Trump is 18 delegates ahead in tonight’s haul over Cruz.
