Vegas Massacre

Held off posting this in hopes of obtaining more information.  Lots of questions, especially as to the motivation of the murderer:

Las Vegas attack marks the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history

Las Vegas attack marks the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history

The suspected gunmen in the Las Vegas shooting has been identified as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock of Mesquite, Nevada.

Read CNBC’s full Las Vegas shooting coverage here.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said that the shooter was found dead in a room on the 32nd floor of Mandalay Bay in an apparent suicide. Lombardo said Paddock opened fire from the room, and there were no other shooters. Police said he had no known connection to terrorism.

“We have no idea what his belief system was,” Lombardo said.

At least 58 people were killed and more than 500 were sent to hospitals after the gunman opened fire on more than 22,000 concertgoers in Las Vegas late Sunday. It was the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.

Lombardo said the police department had located a number of firearms in the room he occupied in the hotel. Officers will also be carrying out a search on Paddock’s residence in Mesquite, 90 miles northeast of the hotel.

Investigators said they located a woman who had been traveling with Paddock, Marilou Danley.

Go here to read the rest.  It appears that Paddock may have been using fully automatic weapons in his murderous rampage.  Up to this point fully automatic weapons had been used only three times in crimes in the US since 1934.  It takes a fair amount of work to transform a legal semi-automatic weapon into an illegal automatic and Paddock appears to have had no background with weapons, either in or out of the military.  More details as they become available.  Let us say prayers for the dead victims:

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

“Thou shalt not kill” was removed from the public square.

May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.

Pure evil cannot be explained or rationalized.

But, for the grace of God that could be you or me.

A nightmarish event.
Mentality ill? Demonic possession?
The poor families suffering.
Is the Serpent sensing that it’s time is running out? I hope so. The final act will be Triumphant! Our Lady will triumph over evil.

I know several people died after being shot– given the setup, the only question is how many were killed by the stampede. It’s not even a matter of people being too scared to pay attention– at speed you simply can’t avoid others, and the literal crush of bodies can crush.

One report said police found a bump kit. I have guns but the bump stock should be illegal because it actually turns a high magazine semi auto into a machine gun. See if this youtube video works here but go two thirds in past all his talking. The stock…$99….turns the gun into a machine gun. If the link fails, go to youtube and type in bump stock for semiauto.

I don’t think autos should be illegal.

If they were actually all that good for mass killing, they’d be used in a lot more crimes– we have literal tons of pot and other drugs entering the country. If the guns were worth more, they’d be coming instead.

If I remember correctly, autos tend to be quite hard to aim, and are prone to jamming. They’re only really useful for spray-and-hope-to-hit, which only works… on tight-packed crowds.

Think about this kind of stuff is why our family avoids most big gatherings. I can think of a half-dozen different things that could have been used with a similar setup, and several of them wouldn’t even risk drawing official attention.

ps….here is a guy manually doing what the bump stock does by using his body to anchor the gun butt then using his finger to rapidly go back and forth within the trigger guard but on a 22. I never saw anyone do this on a higher caliber but I guess it’s possible if you made it hair trigger stats. He only does it as the video starts.

Foxfier,
Sadly I just think we just saw a precedent….high altitude hotel room over crowd plus bump stock etc….that even ISIS admirer/loners are going to mull over. You don’t need 19 guns….just 19 magazines. Very awful precedent for the sicko crowd. I think they said this man’s father was a bank robber long ago. Weird. No offenses previously plus suicide.

1) Precedent isn’t set in stone– they know it works, now, but so do we. How many airliners have been weaponized in the last decade and a half?
2) Due to jamming, barrel melting and other malfunctions, one gun won’t work. The terrorists know this, because their idiots in places without effective auto-bans run into it.

Horrifically, this even works against another possible tactic– getting a high point, and picking people off carefully. Now people will be LOOKING. Yeah, the rooms are fairly private– but now people will be lookign around for a sniper, too.

“We have no idea what his belief system was,” Lombardo said.

His belief system?

The world was introduced to his belief system Sunday evening. Isn’t that proof enough?
Evil can hide in any system.
I wonder if he voted for Clinton.
Tolerance from the liberial camp is anything void of tolerance.

…instead of adjusting our second amendment rights, we should once again look beyond that and focus on mental illness and try to understand this issue. Guns in the hands of the mentally and emotionally ill, are a dangerous mix. We are each others brothers and sisters…and if you see something strange, say something.

ABC reported 42 minutes ago that he had two bump stocks as in the video I linked to….the first not second video.

— “I don’t think autos should be illegal.” Well, that’s good, because although horses are in many ways nobler and better, they’re not at all practical in a modern urban environment.
If you mean *automatic WEAPONS*, though, those, like anti-personnel mines, really have no legitimate civilian or police use.

I put this comment on the wrong post. Question: could it be possible that Paddock was possessed by a demon, a devil? There doesn’t seem to be any other explanation, other than the claim by Isis that he converted to Islam 6 months ago and that this massacre is an Islamic terrorist act.

Automatic weapons protect the people from a government take over, especially a government possessed by evil.
