Peter has no need of our lies or flattery. Those who blindly and indiscriminately defend every decision of the Supreme Pontiff are the very ones who do most to undermine the authority of the Holy See—they destroy instead of strengthening its foundations.
Melchior Cano O.P., Bishop and Theologian of the Council of Trent.
Time for a PopeWatch open thread. The usual open thread rules apply: be concise, be charitable and, above all, be amusing!
Proof reader for Pope Frank; “Your chapter 8 is pointless and confusing. Let’s just delete it Holy Father.”
PF; “I’m a highly trained theologian and leader of the Catholic Church. What makes you think you can do my job better?”
Proof Reader; “That might be a trick question, but I’m pretty sure the answer is in chapter 8.”
Thanks go to Dilbert for the above structure.
Plagiarism is a poor substitute for creative genius….. somebody else wrote that.. I’m sure of it! ?
Oh…..
I almost forgot the charity part!

Dale Price.
Damn. This reads like a Dan Brown Novel. Your Crisis link.
I wish it was in a sense, just a novel, but this is our reality.
Souls are in the balance and albinos are everywhere. Silas the monk as “peaceful” Bishop’s in our time.
Council of Trent? As today’s Rome would say–but that’s old news.
Pope Francis has a philosophy, or rather an ideology. General absolution to everybody with no individual particular confession invalidates the general absolution to everybody.
No. Martin Luther did not get it right. When heretics and non believers who refuse to accept the TRUTH of Jesus Christ receive the Sacred Species, the Sacred Species remains, Jesus is present and greatly offended by the sacrilege.
Yes, Jesus died for all people, some of whom do not like Him.
Luther believed that when heretics and non believers refuse to accept the TRUTH o f Jesus Christ, the Sacred Species ceases to exist after transubstantiation. That in itself is a heresy.
Another meditation on Cain and Abel:
Cain was angry with God for accepting Abel’s sacrifice. Abel’s sacrifice came from a clean heart. “Blessed are the pure of heart because they shall see God.” Cain’s sacrifice was tainted by competition for the first place in God’s heart instead of being who he was and offering himself up with his sacrifice. Cain’s effort to best Abel made his sacrifice a competition instead of a purehearted sacrifice.
Socrates said: “Know thyself.”
Jesus said: “Go into thy room to pray.”
It was no different with the money changers in the temple, who were there to serve themselves instead of God.
The prodigal son returned and the good son did not celebrate with his father, nor did Cain rejoice for his brother’s magnificent sacrifice, for that is the sacrifice God asks of all of us: good will for the common good. The Beatitudes are attitudes of beauty.
Thank you. I have ceased trying to be amusing.
