Alfie Evans has gone to join the Holy Innocents in Eternity. Prayers for him and his bereaved family. I will have much commentary on this in the days to come, but this is not the time for it. Please restrict your comments to wishes for his eternal repose.
Dearest Jesus, who wept at the death of your friend
and taught that they who mourn shall be comforted,
grant us the comfort of your presence in our loss.
Send Your Holy Spirit to direct us
lest we make hasty or foolish decisions.
Send Your Spirit to give us courage
lest through fear we recoil from living.
Send Your Spirit to bring us your peace
lest bitterness, false guilt, or regret take root in our hearts.
The Lord has given.
The Lord has taken away.

Someone posted on Twitter that Allie is a warrior who will be a colonel in St. Michael’s army. I liked that.
A consoling thought for Catholics is that heaven awaits those who die without sin and die for Christ. And as was point out above, Alfie Evans did die for Christ, to make us more aware of that dangerous slippery slope at the top of which is state controlled medicine. And, perhaps we can then be more aware of the legalized murder carried out in the Low Countries, Holland and Belgium, in the name of Mercy Killing, Euthanasia.
Alfie, they can’t hurt you anymore. RIP.
Wonder if they’ll block any investigation to see if he was actively murdered, or only passively.

The hospital has an unsavory rep for not releasing infant remains. Probably no chance of an autopsy. Such an examination would provide closure for the parents perhaps.

Rest In Peace beautiful boy. May God give your parents comfort during this time as they will be heartbroken. Pray for us here on Earth, Alfie, and ask God for His strength to fight for goodness here on earth. Your life was short but your mark will be oh so great.
Foxfire, my mother made a comment to me when I told her this story. She said that there must be more to this, and the hospital could possibly be using this boy for their own research which explains why they fought to have him retained in hospital. There is no other exlplaintation why a doctor is able to over-ride the wishes of two loving parents. There is more to this than the hospital is saying…
