In France, and around the world, there are now tens of thousands of these monuments with the single word, Normandy, proclaiming the courage, selflessness, and bravery of those who laid down their lives for their friends.

– Gratitude is due to the men and women soldiers who served, those who did not return, as well as to the current military service men and women who now serve.
– May they not have died,
In the past, and those who now serve not do so in vain.
– The current President and Congress must do better to assure the wellbeing of military men and women traumatized by the recent years of costly military conflicts that have shattered the lives of those who have served and their family members.

CAM-About 88,000 of these brave-incredibly young men – mostly US Army Air Corps, but some in other flying service, died in WWII. Each time they took off, they truly did lay down their lives for their friends-often less than half of a formation returned. You got your medals correct. My dad never spoke of anything hd did over there, never. After his death we could not find the DFC and first Air Medal; so, as we found out you could, we asked the Dept of Air Force for replacements. They, without cost, sent them an said, “By the way, here are five other medals of his for which the records show he never was personally in person awarded before he was discharged.” It makes me want to vomit to think of their service, and all who died, and then of those who condemn America today, especially of late multi-millionaires, including those of the NFL so well-coiffed and with several known unsupported bastard children, publicly disrespecting our Flag and our National Anthem.Guy McClung, Texas
