In France, and around the world, there are now tens of thousands of these monuments with the single word, Normandy,  proclaiming the courage, selflessness, and bravery of those who  laid down their lives for their friends.

– Gratitude is due to the men and women soldiers who served, those who did not return, as well as to the current military service men and women who now serve.
– May they not have died,
In the past, and those who now serve not do so in vain.
– The current President and Congress must do better to assure the wellbeing of military men and women traumatized by the recent years of costly military conflicts that have shattered the lives of those who have served and their family members.

Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal & 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, if I read the grave stone correctly. You must be very proud of your dad.
