Statement of Cardinal Tobin

Cardinal “Nighty-night Baby” Tobin is taking a leaf from his master’s book and attempting to brazen it out:

The Archdiocese of Newark and Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin, C.Ss.R. express shock, sadness and consternation at the wide-ranging array of allegations published by the former apostolic nuncio to the United States of America, Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, which cannot be understood as contributing to the healing of survivors of sexual abuse.

The factual errors, innuendo and fearful ideology of the “testimony” serve to strengthen our conviction to move ahead resolutely in protecting the young and vulnerable from any sort of abuse, while guaranteeing a safe and respectful environment where all are welcome and breaking down the structures and cultures that enable abuse.

Together with Pope Francis, we are confident that scrutiny of the claims of the former nuncio will help to establish the truth.

I love the phrase “fearful ideology”.  Of course this is a non-response response since none of the allegations are actually responded to.  Pope Francis and his merry band of miscreants really do believe that the Catholic laity consists of moronic sheep.

“It’s a vast right wing conspiracy!” said Hillary Clinton about the allegations of adultery between Bill her husband and Monica Lewinsky.

That’s a double edged confidence – speaking of patent fearful ideology.

What’s that even mean?

As I noted in another discussion, I see a key being what Pope Emeritus Benedict does. He’s specifically mentioned by Vigano as having punished McCarrick but that the punishment was lifted by Pope Francis when he assumed the papacy. I also see another key being the documents Vigano says exist; I sure hope he made copies. Finally, I’ve sent links of these discussions to my family and friends. I rarely do that but in this case I feel compelled…

The Pope and the rest of the sexual predators will reap the whirlwind, one way or another. The laity is awakening and angry.

its depressing and confusing to me that with that many priest over decades that it was not recorded and published to certain officials over time. what has the church become, a shell of what was. The flock has lost trust in the leaders because the leaders are aiding in the crime. Im a convert and I came to the faith eyes wide open. I joined the Knights, studied and receiving a BA in theology and the ones I seek to emulate in knowledge are causing the downfall of the true church. The church must start a new or the walls of st.peter will crumble/

I listened to another priest on Sunday make meaningless, “the laity must identity deeply with the suffering of the molested/blame the laity in order to make this thing right comments.” He and every priest in our state had been called to meet with our worth than useless bishop/devil in clerical robes re: this crisis. I told the priest after the service that I would be sharing with said bishop, for all the good it will do, that the only thing that will help the laity in these regards is to see the guilty defrocked & in jail. The priest agreed with me & encouraged me to do just that.

Here is our “fearful ideology” from today’s first reading at Mass:

“We ask you, brothers and sisters,
with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ
and our assembling with him,
not to be shaken out of your minds suddenly,
or to be alarmed either by a “spirit,” or by an oral statement,
or by a letter allegedly from us
to the effect that the day of the Lord is at hand.
Let no one deceive you in any way.

To this end he has also called you through our Gospel
to possess the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, brothers and sisters, stand firm
and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught,
either by an oral statement or by a letter of ours.

May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father,
who has loved us and given us everlasting encouragement
and good hope through his grace,
encourage your hearts and strengthen them
in every good deed and word.”

Father of Seven,
Despite the claims of Cdl Tobin being an avid weighlifter it is rather obvious from photos I’ve seen that he is a boar with tits. Maybe he need to work in some cardio.

Mr. McClarey’s post consisted of Cdl. Tobin’s statement and a few lines of commentary. This has your panties in a wad? You’ve been on the payroll of the Archdiocese of Newark since when?

The Archdiocese of Newark and Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin, C.Ss.R. express shock, sadness and consternation

“Shock, sadness and consternation” — interesting choice of reactions there. Note that “rejecting the truth of these claims” isn’t listed.

which cannot be understood as contributing to the healing of survivors of sexual abuse.

Maybe they can, and maybe they can’t. The question on everyone’s lips, which Tobin has yet to answer, is whether or not they’re true.

The factual errors, innuendo and fearful ideology of the “testimony”

OK, but what exactly are these “factual errors”? Are they big things that would discredit the testimony, like, e.g., Francis being made aware of McCarrick’s proclivities? Or is it just minor things that don’t have a bearing on the allegations themselves?

Together with Pope Francis, we are confident that scrutiny of the claims of the former nuncio will help to establish the truth.

No doubt it will, if the Church hierarchy actually permits a fair investigation and the secular media don’t spend all their efforts trying to discredit Vigano as part of their water-carrying efforts for pederasts. Again, though, note that his Eminence has not, in fact, stated what the actual truth about these allegations is.

As another blogger I follow put it, this statement reads as if Tobin went to his PR guys and asked, “How do I give the impression of denying these allegations without actually denying the allegations?”

The Truth will set us free. Exactly why can it not be understood as contributing to the healing of survivors of sexual abuse? In order to heal a disease it must be correctly diagnosed.

I see a parallel between the situation surrounding one of injured family members who has just had a bunch of metal plates removed from a foot because it was determined that his ankle bone was contaminated with staff. The foot appeared to be of sound structure from the outside because of the reconstruction of the foot surgically that included the now removed pieces of metal that had earlier been put in place with such care by the surgeon. It has been determined that the ankle bone has a staff infection which is not only a threat to the foot but to my cousin’s very life. Yesterday, the scars were surgically reopened, supporting metal structures cut from the bone, which had grown attached to the metal over time. Now a pump is forcing water into the wound and a vacuum is sucking out any & all fluids/material out of the contaminated flesh & bone. Also, the strongest antibiotics available will be running through his veins for the next 6 weeks with weekly blood testing to make sure the staff infection is not spreading.

It seems that our church leadership is contaminated by evil as my cousin’s body has been contaminated by staff. Surgery must be done with scars surgically reopened so that the infection can be isolated & forcibly cleaned out & treated. It is not a pleasant process & is very painful & limiting until healing takes place. But it is a necessary process to save the long term life of the patient.
