Palin Not Invited to McCain Funeral

The press has been filled with commentary condemning Trump for his failure to forget after McCain’s death that they were mortal enemies.  I wonder how they will react to this slight to a woman who was ever complimentary and loyal to McCain, even though his campaign aides did their best to sabotage her campaign 10 years ago.  She brought the only excitement to that sad, futile campaign and many Republicans, including myself, were voting for Palin rather than McCain.  I wish Senator McCain the best in the next world, but this churlish act of ingratitude demonstrates why I will not miss him for a second.

Humphf; I’m actually a bit surprised.

A retired surgeon who frequents another forum on which I’m a lurker offered the opinion that John McCain hasn’t uttered a coherent word in about a month. Not sure what the smart money says, but I might lay a bet that Cindy McCain and her vulgar daughter are genus MeanGirl and ultimately responsible for the spitballs shot at Sarah Palin.

Art he’s not the only one as I’ve heard from others that Arizona has been functionally without senators for awhile now. It’s… interesting what’s apparently going on in that state.

I wonder if this may be some sort of misunderstanding. I hope that’s all it is.

Well, one usually attends a funeral to honor the deceased. Their radical pettiness has exposed them for what they really are and thankfully spared her the discomfort of appearing to honor him. A “blessing in disguise” indeed.
In the meantime, it is quite possible that we will be burdened with a Senator Cindy to carry on the dishonorable title of “Madame Maverick.”

John McCain was a true military hero in the best sense. As a politician, he pursued a strategy to destroy this country. The only reason he remained a Republican was so he would have the media star power he craved. No one was a more reliable critic of all things conservative. After his failed presidential bid, and after that same fawning media turned on him, you would have thought he’d see the reality of this. Apparently, it had no effect on him. A man who mistreated Sarah Palin until the end, but never had an unkind word for Obama? Good riddance.

The corporal work of mercy that is to bury the dead is being politicized. The tenderhearted Democrats now control heaven. NOT

Not in the ‘best sense’. There was a certain heroism to him. Primarily he was a man who suffered. There’s a lot of hooey written about his Navy record (e.g. the rubbish that he caused the USS Forrestal disaster in 1967, or that he was some sort of collaborator). That having be said, it is curious given his poor academic record and his history of expensive mishaps that he kept getting the promotions which kept him in service. It’s also curious that a man whose small motor co-ordination was so damaged that he couldn’t type or put on a necktie wasn’t invalided out of service.

There’s also a lot of hooey written about his record in Congress. He was a mainstream Republican throughout his career, just given from time-to-time to spiteful and attention-seeking displays. He was also animated by a perverse refusal to enforce immigration laws and successfully played Lucy-with-the-football with Arizon’s Republican electorate for about 15 years there. His duplicity in this matter was ample justification to toss him out of Congress.

No one was a more reliable critic of all things conservative.

He voted with the American Conservative Union 81% of the time during his years in Congress. McCain detractors contend he broke left after Barry Goldwater died. There was a phase change in his voting record, but it set in several years before Goldwater died. He voted with the American Conservative Union about 87% of the time prior to 1995 and about 77% of the time thereafter. His scores from that agency fluctuated a great deal, but the flux was only haphazardly related to his electoral calendar (contrary to what his detractors have claimed). He was a grandstanding pain in the ass deferential to certain media assumptions about public life, not some sort of Democratic operative.

He also disinvited me and 63 million American “crazies.”

Apparently, McCain couldn’t forgive us for November 2016, when we voted to stop the worst political class in History urinating on our shoes and telling us it’s raining. Hubris.

PS: Sarah Palin was the only reason I voted in 2008.

Sarah Palin was the only reason I bothered to vote in 2008 as well. As for McCain holding a grudge against Trump…..a recent Breitbart article dug up the media’s trashing of McCain 10 years ago during his abortive campaign against Obumber. They were a lot meaner than Trump ever was, but McCain either forgot about that or forgave them. In my book that makes McCain a hypocrite.

In the end he is just another career Senator that had to leave feet first.

Trump went right for the guts. The media might slap McCain around, but they don’t touch his service record. I’m not surprised McCain was in a slow burn about that. Trump went after Ted Cruz’s father and wife as well, but that seemed more bizarrely comic than anything else. (Not sure where ‘the guts’ are with Cruz).

Not too long ago on this blog there was a post about McCain’s denigration of Palin in his latest autobiography. When asked about the cruel comment by a reporter, Sarah Palin took the high road and was graciously loyal in her reply.
When I voted for the McCain/Palin ticket I voted for Sarah Palin.
What the McCain campaign did to Palin had the earmarks of a jealous, threatened woman and that woman was Cindy McCain. I base my opinion on watching the three of them at a campaign rally in NoVA.

I will always respect McCain’s service record. That is a separate issue in his life.

As a politically disinherited Arizonan for nearly two decades, observing McCain’s well-funded (Thank you, Hensley Distributing and thanks to long-suffering Cindy Hensley McCain) throttle-hold on the voters of that unrepresented state, I am not at all sorry to see him finally leave office. Also, knowing how he really was as a person, that is for those of us outside of the well-funded, media-beloved McCain political camp, he was “not a nice man”, neither to fellow AZ citizens, whom he regarded as insects, nor to even generous co-workers and benefactors of his cause.

These obsequies that have gone on and on for a week now are over long, and well, redefining the meaning of obsequiousness. But this is the media’s shallow dig at Trump, believing that it galls Trump that he isnt the center of attention, and to have all these buffoons, blowhards and liars (Hi there, Joe Biden) stand up and make oblique references against Trump.

It is they who are the shallow and venal ones. Sorry, McCain was “not a nice man”, service record aside and not what we are talking about here; and I think he had a fundamental re-orientation of his me-John-McCain-me thinking about 30 seconds after he passed when he met the Sovereign Lord of All.
