Pope Backed Hillary

That the Pope backed Clinton does not surprise me.  The allegation that he used Church funds to support her campaign, if true, does surprise me and is a bombshell.  From The Daily Wire:

One of the Pontiff’s chief appointments, Cardinal Pietro Parolin to Vatican secretary of state, was reportedly selected to carry out this political plan, which would later be stifled by the election of President Trump. Basically, if Pope Saint John Paul II worked with Reagan in the fight against Communism, then Pope Francis would work with Hillary to advance the globalist agenda where not recycling your plastic straws is a sin equal to that of killing unborn babies.

“The election of Donald Trump shattered the assumptions on which Francis’ political strategy was based,” writes Sire. “With all its macho Latin American rhetoric, the plan depended on the presence in the White House of a liberal president willing to abase himself (or herself) to Latin American claims. It collapses before a president whose response to troublemakers beyond the Rio Grande is to build a wall against them.”

“That is why in 2016 Pope Francis staked all his chips on a Clinton presidency,” Sire continued. “Those around him, beginning with Cardinal Parolin, told him that Donald Trump had no hope of winning, and on Francis’ orders the Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See helped finance Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.”

During the 2016 campaign, Pope Francis famously showed more hostility to President Trump, who promised a pro-life/pro-religious agenda, than the pro-abortion Hillary Clinton. At one point, the two clashed when the Pope suggested that President Trump is not Christian for seeking to build walls.

“A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian. This is not in the Gospel,” said Pope Francis of President Trump’s policies.

The Pope never described Hillary Clinton in such a way, even as she had a representative of NARAL brag about her abortion at the DNC. When asked about how people should vote in the election, the Pope said they should “vote their conscience” and not pro-life. Sire says this was Pope Francis using the power of papal rhetoric for a political agenda, which did not go as planned.

“When Trump won, Francis was furious with his advisors,” writes Sire. “This may be one reason why Cardinal Parolin has lost favor: he proved himself fallible on predicting outcomes in the United States, and he has failed to deliver the goods in Latin America.”

Go here to read the rest.  I will see if I can find anything further about Church funds going to the Clinton campaign.  God can use very odd instruments, and in this crisis in the life of the Church he may be using an orange haired foul mouth adulterer for the good of both the Church and our nation.  God has a superb sense of humor and of irony, as History demonstrates.

Update:  Edward Pentin reported this on November 15, 2016:

However, Corriere della Sera reported Nov. 10 that, according to its research, most in the Vatican were backing Hillary Clinton as the “lesser evil.” Trump, on the other hand, was considered “unelectable” due to his “aggressive chauvinism,” in addition to his threats to deport 11 million illegal Mexican immigrants and ban Muslims from immigrating to the United States.

Now that the “greater evil” has won, the Vatican is viewing the United States as “angry and radicalized,” Corriere della Sera wrote. “For the Holy See, it is a bitter defeat, cultural rather than political. Among other things, it indicates that the Catholic Church hasn’t registered the very deep upheavals taking place in the greatest Western country.” A “lot of incomprehension” and “bitter shock” were generally prevalent for many in the Vatican, agreed one U.S. official who spoke with the Register. Based on “failings of reporting,” he said, Clinton was represented as far preferable to Trump, who was portrayed as a “buffoon,” and reporting about Clinton’s shortcomings “never sunk in.” Due to a general lack of understanding in Italy of the U.S. “culture wars,” Clinton’s radical pro-abortion-rights position also hardly figured at all in media commentary.

In particular the matter of funding by the Vatican of the HRC campaign is most troubling. Another report I saw said that funds from the Peter’s Pence were used. I hope this matter is investigated and a proper accounting is made for use of Vatican funds in support of a political candidate, and hard core leftist at that.

That is not interference with the 2008 US election. He does not have an “R.” behind his name.

This year, I dropped a Jackson on Peter’s Pence. Never again.

This morning I didn’t drop in the plate for Catholic U. Universities are enemy-controlled territory.

Anyhow, Hillary is/was 100% for abortion. Pope’s support for Hillary was support for baby murdering.

If this is true, it’s just another bullet point toward the thesis that the Holy See in this papacy is fairly depicted thus:

Well, I could see where, if ALL one had to go on was what the major international media reported and one took it at face value, one might get the impression that Trump was, at best, an insincere blowhard whose pro-life stand was probably just a ploy to win votes, and at worst the second coming of Hitler, while Hillary would, despite whatever other faults she had, know enough to not start World War III. Heck, I even suspected as much at the time and I was VERY wary of Trump before the election (but he’s done way better than I expected). That said, isn’t the Vatican supposed to have some good diplomatic contacts who can see beyond the official propaganda? And even if all that was true, what business does the Vatican have contributing to American political campaigns anyway?

This Sunday was the day for contribution to Peter’s Pence in our diocese. I tossed ours. Not until a new Pope and the Vatican Hierarchy, that deep state, is cleansed.

“Deep seated religious beliefs have to be changed to accommodate women’s healthcare” Hillary Clinton.
Since Pope Francis has no “deep seated religious beliefs” to be changed, he is off the hook.
I once asked “and who is going to change them?” Now, I know. Pope Francis.

Heck, *I* thought Trump was a total lost cause!

About the only thing I remember believing out of Trump was his pro-life conversion. If he was going to do it to manipulate folks, it would’ve been a much better story… instead it was a lot like the folks I’ve seen who did change their minds. You hold one of your babies (at however many removes, might not even be blood– but they’re YOURS) and connect it with “hey, it was legal to maim and murder this kid an hour ago. That ain’t right.”

Doesn’t surprise me. No wonder when Trump visited the Vatican the official photo showed Francis standing there with a face like a worn-out boot next to the President.

Roe v Wade has disenfranchised every male, every man of his constitutional Posterity by disenfranchising all men of their seed; their children “created equal” not born equal, and endowed by “their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” From our Declaration of Independence.
Roe v. Wade having disenfranchised every man of his seed and every newly begotten sovereign soul of their “unalienable Right to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” using an un-enumerated right to privacy places the government dictates over the reality that each and every un-enumerated human right in the penumbra of un-enumerated human rights must encompass all human rights, numerated in our Founding Principles and un-enumerated, because of being innately endowed by “their Creator”
Roe v. Wade is taxation without representation for every man in our nation. Roe v. Wade is unconstitutional taxation without representation for each and every man and his newly begotten seed in our nation.

I find it more plausible to believe that Pope Francis had a secret plan to elect Trump than this in-print rumor. A few oblique remarks that the US and British press could twist into claiming were attacks on Trump and whaddya know, the tens of millions of Catholic haters in the US electorate swing to the cause of the Pope’s candidate. Hah ha.

People who hate the Church already vote Democratic. There’s a small population of retro-evangelicals who antagonistic to the Church who might vote Republican as a rule, but it’s doubtful they could be motivated to go to the polls and vote against Trump unless Trump himself were a baptized Catholic. (And that’s assuming anything Francis said wasn’t lost in the day’s disinformation).

In both the UK and France, it is not uncommon for business people to make contributions to more than one political party.

It buys access.

“There’s a small population of retro-evangelicals who antagonistic to the Church who might vote Republican as a rule, but it’s doubtful they could be motivated to go to the polls and vote against Trump unless Trump himself were a baptized Catholic.”

I have been trying to draft a response that isn’t too specific. Nevertheless, this is my 3rd attempt. I love the people with whom I work. My office has people of different races and religions. Hispanics, Chinese, Blacks, Whites, etc. Baptists, Atheists, Catholics, etc. Except for politics, we all get along very well. General observation – black Baptists will vote Democrat and support abortion, white ones will vote Republican and oppose abortion. Transplants from the north-east or left coast will vote Democrat regardless of religion. Very few (Republican or Democrat) think about the issues or even attempt to vote on principle. It’s all emotion. Another thing – those black Baptists are 100% devout and have zero prejudice against the Catholic Church (but they are horrified at what Pope Francis has allowed, and we have had many discussions about MCarrick and Wuerl and so on). In fact, they love hearing me talk about the Church Fathers (Clement, Ignatius, Polycarp, Irenaeus, Justin Martyr, John Chrysostom, etc.), Church History, the Books of the Apocrypha (Deuterocanonicals), Greek and Latin, etc. They ask me questions all the time and are fascinated by the Latin Vulgate Bible on my desk. They even invited me to their Bible study. But Lyndon Johnson was successful beyond his wildest dreams and no one here can fix that.

PS, for the record, I voted 3rd Party. And I am horrified at that recent letter in the NY Times by an agent within the Trump Administration who reported that the President is emotionally unstable and dangerous (am equally horrified that Francis tried to manipulate the election for Hillary – so much for allegations of Russian interference in Trump’s favor!). If that letter is true (it’s certainly consistent with Trump’s twitter record), then I understand why my black Baptist friends oppose Trump. As for me, I could never support a Democrat simply because of abortion and sodomite marriage. There are other reasons as well but those are the two main ones.

Now it’s time for morning prayer. God, please bless the people in my office, whether Democrat or Republican. Amen.

“PS, for the record, I voted 3rd Party. And I am horrified at that recent letter in the NY Times by an agent within the Trump Administration who reported that the President is emotionally unstable and dangerous . . . ”

Skyrocketing economic/GDP growth; lowest unemployment in 60 years; soaring (public and private) pension plan balances; higher house prices; record stock market highs; denuclearizing NK; lowering taxes; reducing ruinous regulations; defeating ISIS; convincing allies to meet treaty commitments; . . . END THE INSANITY!

T. Shaw, I agree with everything that you wrote. However, Trump is unprincipled and unstable. His tweets amply show that. Yes, he is more than merely preferable over Hillary. Yes, his stewardship of the economy has been outstanding. Yes, he has defended America abroad instead of ingratiating our nation to tin pot dictators in the Middle East & Latin America, and weak kneed liberal govts in Europe. I am.overjoyed. But he’s crazy.

On the other hand, maybe after so long with make-nice-nice leaders like GWB and Obama I don’t know what real leadership is. 🙁 But I remember Reagan. Principled. Knowledgeable about our Republic. A moral man. I am so confused.

His tweets amply show that.

Really?

Because they sure seem to work out amazingly well for manipulating the heck out of the media.

That his persona is a blow-hard with no sense of self control who will do anything to get ahead or hurt those who cross him, that is true.

If you look at what he actually does, though, it sure looks like the outrageous cheeto-haired crazy guy is about as authentic a representation of the actual person as my somewhat fluttery and quiet mom persona, or my grandmother’s super polite “oh, I don’t know about that” persona. (Short version, if she was moved enough to actually SAY that phrase, not only did she VERY MUCH KNOW you were wrong, she was kinda pissed you’d forced her to publicly comment and point it out.)

Trump blusters on Twitter, and it works, especially against those who have been doing the same “hold me back, hold me back, I’m craaaaaazy, man” shtick for my entire life and in some cases decades before I was born. Crazy Kim of the NOrks makes a deal and breaks it? Trump already realized he’d be doing that– repeatedly– and didn’t give anything that couldn’t be taken right back, and didn’t fall all over himself to try to entice him into holding up his side of the deal.
Our trading partners all put tariffs on our stuff, while we can’t have it on theirs? Time to change that, you want no tariffs on your stuff, get it off of ours. Etc.

Foxfier, I am hoping and yes praying that you and T. Shaw are correct. That said, Trump strikes me as loony tunes crazy (and always has, and being a recovering alcoholic and drug addict, I know all about loony tunes crazy). In my business of nuclear power (and formerly nuclear submarines), we cannot act like that, and Trump commands the nuke weapons that I remember so well on my nuke sub. However, let us pray (I like this one from the 1928 Anglican Book of Common Prayer. Yeah, not Catholic, but nevertheless….)

ALMIGHTY God, whose kingdom is everlasting and power infinite; Have mercy upon this whole land; and so rule the hearts of thy servants THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES Donald J. Trump, The Governor of this State of South Carolina Henry McMaster, and all others in authority, that they, knowing whose ministers they are, may above all things seek thy honour and glory; and that we and all the People, duly considering whose authority they bear, may faithfully and obediently honour them, according to thy blessed Word and ordinance; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with thee and the Holy Ghost liveth and reigneth ever one God, world without end. Amen.

Trump isn’t crazy. He has a pop culture persona that too many people confuse with the real businessman that he is.
His Twitter blasts drive his enemies up a wall. I love it. I never considered the guy to be a saint, or even a particularly moral person, but he raised good kids and does not drink. He has a New York street fighter’s personality. He is many things but he is not unstable.

The Clintons…..serial liars, a rapist, a drunk (Hilary)…that’s unstable.

I pray we’re right, too– but I also try to disprove it, and the thing I can’t manage to get around is that he’s a successful businessman.

That’s hard enough that most sane people can’t do it. Someone crazy in the way Trump acts? Would not be able to succeed at running a lemonade stand. I’ve actually seen them fail in skin-space. 😀

He probably is somewhat addicted to risk, though.

Trump likely is nuts.

If he were a sensible man, he would not voluntarily have given up a hugely happy and successful life to be constantly attacked and defamed by media liars [redundant] and deep state operatives.

T. Shaw: Have been thinking about his sacrifice also, and believe that he simply loves this country. After the previous wreckage, we have the essence of a President. Cannot get over that there was a meltdown over his mention of you know who terrorists 17 tears ago – insanity abounding, not so much education. Heads have to get back above shoulders.
