Kavanaugh is in.
Foxfier
Former sailor, trained calibration tech, current mother, current geek; has a former sailor current geek computer tech husband, a pack of kids and cats, one dog, all spoiled.
Has been "Foxfier" since before Mozilla existed, let alone renamed their browser "Firefox." It's a purposeful misspelling of the photo-luminescent effect-- for something that might look scary but is harmless.
Deo gratias!
Protesters did not take it gracefully.
After being reminded that approval or objection was forbidden.
Of course they did it anyways.
The Alaskan senator initially voted against, but withdrew her vote because
1) it didn’t matter (she said it, not me!)
and
2) her friend, who would vote Aye, is not there today– he is WALKING HIS DAUGHTER DOWN THE AISLE, if not right now then close enough.
And now for Justice Ginsburg’s replacement.
And thank you Lord, for answered prayers.
Amen!!!
Curious…if folks don’t mind, what did they pray for?
Mine was:
Please, God, please help folks not pay attention to bullies.
I could actually argue both ways on judge K, but the Heckler’s Veto scares me silly.
Most pleasing. Now let’s hope he, his family, and various others who’ve been roadkill in the course of all of this (e.g. Mark Judge) can get back to living a quiet life.
Judge is actually the one I’m least worried about, because he did write a book and folks might buy it.
Not exactly reassuring.
I prayed for our future children and the right to their life. That their existence is allowed. That Judge Kavanaugh.. Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh, will help in giving the unborn a fighting chance.
Gods Speed New Justice!!
Judge hasn’t published any books in eight years and any copies lying about of those he has published are those remaindered. However he makes his real living, it’s not something which requires a LinkedIn profile, nor does he appear on his employer’s web page.
And he can get the rights back then put it up on Amazon.
Along with his other books:
https://www.amazon.com/Mark-Gauvreau-Judge/e/B001K7XPHC/ref=sr_ntt_srch_lnk_2?qid=1538862843&sr=1-2
He’s also been on Kresta in the Afternoon (had a re-run) so while he’s been harmed he hasn’t been totally slaughtered.
I prayed that God would see that justice was done and that the hearts of the leftists be converted. Only part of my prayer was answered.
Judge is a journalist – What looks to be the juiciest is on Amazon is for $375.76 2 used paperbacks -A Tremor of Bliss: Sex, Catholicism, and Rock ‘n’ Roll. A new one is $524. Or go cheap with Kindle at $11.99. I won’t be buying it. His books on jazz and his grandfather and Washington Senators World Series win look promising.
Murkowski is lucky she could vote present because Daines was absent due to daughter’s wedding. A no vote might not be helpful if she decides to run for reelection in 2022.
Whom did I pray for? The 4 questionable senators then all the senators who said they were voting yes. Justice Kavanaugh and his family and USA because the nastiness/violence isn’t over yet.
Wanna bet Kavanaugh had a beer tonight?
I wouldn’t take that bet Dave! The Left is so out of touch with how most people lead their lives that they thought they could crucify this guy for normal actions like beer drinking and high school buffoonery. Stripped of the spurious accusations, that is truly all they had. Oh and that and Kavanaugh getting angry when he was being accused ceaselessly of being an attempted, and actual, rapist, and having his wife and kids put through the Leftist mix master of astroturfed wrath. This event has been an education for normal apolitical people in what the far Left is like, and most of them were utterly repulsed.

This event has been an education for normal apolitical people in what the far Left is like,
Red haze types like Barbara Ehrenreich and Victor Navasky didn’t do this to BK (though they would have had they been in a position to). The Democratic Party did this to him. That’s not the ‘far Left’. If it was just the sort of rancid character who used to write for The Village Voice or The Nation, we wouldn’t have a problem. If it was just some a**hole representing Oakland or Madison or Detroit, we wouldn’t have a problem. We have a problem because this is now normal behavior in the Democratic Party. (While we’re at it, is there anyone among the media’s pet Republicans who objected to the Democratic Party’s behavior? Paging David Brooks….).
And now Art the general public is beginning to realize that the Far Left and the Democrats are basically one and the same for all intents and purposes.
Evan McMullin, that champion of true Republicanism, was completely on the side of the Democrats:

Not really. The main body of the Democratic Party (including BO) are much more results-oriented than was the Democratic Party ca. 1983. The Ehrenreich-Navasky types (and their coterie) in Congress favored the enemy during the late Cold War. There was an intermediate position held by the main body in Congress and the Op-Ed sector. Results-oriented policy-making was characteristic of a small corps in Congress organized around Dante Fascell and Steven Solarz. In topical commentary, the most likely to say asinine things aren’t liberals, but paleo / paulbot / alt-right types (who are at least as bad as the red haze, if not worse).
Also, you’re forgetting the degree to which the main body of the Democratic Party ca. 1975 was under the influence of lawyers and social workers who were lacking in any sense of what normal self-interested behavior looks like. People like Ralph Nader and Marian Wright Edelman have been shoved to the side, for the most part. The BO administration has made moves to gut welfare reform, but TANF remains a far smaller program than AFDC was in its prime. As for Ralph Nader’s ‘consumers democracy’ (i.e. empowering pests like Ralph Nader), it’s long forgotten. Outside the medical sector and the public utilities, price controls are off the agenda. The residue of that thinking is the continuous efforts to raise the minimum wage (which, bad as it is, isn’t nearly as insane as it was during the Roosevelt Administration).
Now, the depredations of the diversicrats are worse than we could have imagined in 1975 and you have some novel phenomena like the Black Lives Matter BS. Some things get better, some things get worse.
Evan McMullin, that champion of true Republicanism, was completely on the side of the Democrats:
The NeverTrump types are sorting themselves into those who take it issue-by-issue, those decamping to the Democratic Party, those part of the shill coterie with David Brooks and Conor Friedersdorf, and those who are chronic complainers. Wm. Kristol is beginning to resemble a schizophrenic babbling to himself on a city bus.
“Not really.”
Yes, really. The Democrats of yesteryear would never have allowed their crazies to continually interrupt the hearings, not to mention swarm the Senate attempting to bully Senators. The Far Left has the whip hand in the Democrat party now, both as to organization and money. Moderate Democrats are so rare that they might as well as be sealed in amber. A prime example is Diane Feinstein. Fearing the left of her party as a political threat, she helped organize this fiasco, something she would not have dreamed of doing even five years ago.

What you’re describing is less a policy perspective than a decline in manners, courtesy, and scruple. The culture of the Democratic Party is bizarre in ways it wasn’t in 1975. In part I think it’s a decline in inhibition generally. One thing that strikes you is that the Democratic Party is less and less composed of people who understand themselves to be competitors and more and more to be in charge naturally. The electoral processes which put despised social groups in charge are thus illegitimate. Another is how they react to the world around them. We have a number of partisan Democrats among our Facebook correspondents and they worked themselves into a neuralgic state over anything the President does or says. The worst offenders are a pair from New England with quite ordinary backgrounds. They were employed for decades in quite ordinary positions in higher education and lived in one tranquil college town after another. The husband takes a train to attend the anti-inaugural demonstration and a companion posts a photograph of him. You should have seen the screwed up rage in his face. We worked together for 17 years and I’d never seen any evidence of affect in him at all. It’s all quite peculiar.

Agreed. Fanaticism is catching when it does not repel.
