PopeWatch: Chickens Meet Guardian Fox

“The Pope has a bigger agenda. He’s got to get on with other things—of talking about the environment and protecting migrants and carrying on the work of the Church. We’re not going to go down a rabbit hole on this.”

Cardinal Cupich on the Vigano allegations.

Cardinal Blase Cupich of Chicago and Archbishop Charles Scicluna of Malta are among those Pope Francis appointed today to the organizing committee for next February’s meeting of presidents of bishops’ conferences to discuss the protection of minors in the Church.

In a statement released on Friday, the Vatican said they will be joined by Cardinal Oswald Gracias of Bombay, India, and Jesuit Father Hans Zollner, president of the Centre for the Protection of Minors at the Pontifical Gregorian University.

If you carry the “1984” trope through, what might be His Holiness’s “Room 101” for those of us who feel he is not doing the work of Our Lord?

Maybe by February they will have worked out the logistics…say having the questionnaire in each ones language. I’m bringing this up because of the lack of preparedness when they had their youth summit a little while ago.. remember? Bishop’s being rushed to vote before they even had a chance to read the suggestions from the participates in their own language.
One commenter on TAC recalled the words of Nancy Pelosi; “We will know what’s in it after we vote it in.” (Paraphrasing here)

One of the best Bishop’s will be helping from above. A true Shepard. Please pray for the soul of Bishop Morlino.

The purpose of this steering committee is to inform the Church of what approaches are–and more importantly, are not–acceptable to the pontiff. So you need company men for that. Not that they aren’t all functionally company men.

The only bishop willing to call him on anything is in parts unknown.
