Again: “Is there any evidence I could give you — anything at all — that would lead you to reconsider these assumptions?” Not a stir. If Leftism were a political movement, then argument might be useful at least in regard to some Leftists. However, Leftism is clearly now, for most Leftists, a substitute religion. Passion, emotion, ideology and bigotry are the fuels for that movement, with almost no room left for reason. As Jonathan Swift observed long ago in 1721: Reasoning will never make a Man correct an ill Opinion, which by Reasoning he never acquired.
