Deep State? What Deep State?

Surprise!:

Who would have thought that, this deep into the Russia collusion probe, we’d be learning about yet another dossier connected to Hillary Clinton? And, as it turns out, it was sort of a family secret.

By his own account, senior Department of Justice (DOJ) official Bruce Ohr played an essential — and unorthodox — role, carrying politically tainted allegations of Donald Trump-Russia collusion to the FBI during the 2016 election.

First, it was unverified intelligence starting in July 2016 from Trump-hating former British spy Christopher Steele, the author of the infamous Russia dossier.

Next, it was sketchy intelligence starting in August 2016 from Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson, an opposition-research contractor who hired Steele and was paid to help Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign develop political dirt on Trump.

And now we learn, from testimony that is still being kept secret from the public, that Ohr admitted to Congress last year that he also took Russia information that his wife, Nellie, assembled against Trump on a computer drive and delivered that to the FBI in 2016 — a revelation that has raised fresh concerns in Congress about a possible conflict of interest.

Nellie Ohr worked for Fusion GPS and, for a time, worked on the same Clinton-financed Russian research project as Steele, according to the testimony.

DOJ ethics rules forbid department officials from working in cases where a spouse has a financial interest, a prohibition that Bruce Ohr said he knew about when he forwarded his wife’s evidence to the FBI.

The way Ohr described it, his wife’s research was like an additional dossier assembled from Fusion GPS research to augment what Steele was separately providing the FBI.

“She (Nellie Ohr) provided me with a memory stick that included research she had done for Fusion GPS on various Russian figures,” Ohr told congressional investigators.

Go here to read the rest.  When Trump said during the campaign that the system was rigged, he didn’t know the half of it.

The Left is everything it says it is not, everything it accuses its opponents of being. The only word for all of this is treason. This was a conspiracy to take down a duly elected president by any means necessary short of assassination. A coup-d’etat. There is zero credibility left in the MSM or this story would huge news and there would be another independent counsel. What a disgrace the formerly democratic party has become.

That this entire imbroglio isn’t a Constitutional crisis is itself a Constitutional crisis.

Is itself a Constitutional crisis.

Or a lamentable condition. Partisan Democrats actually buy this ‘Russian collusion’ hoo ha. A minority not as stupid but more malevolent know it’s rubbish but are confident they own the bureaucracy and the abuse of power will only be visited on their enemies going forward.

Recall a few months back that a great many partisan Democrats bought into Christine Blasey’s fictions, and almost none were willing to state the obvious. I’d call it motivated reasoning, but there’s precious little reasoning in it.

That’s a recipe for either a military coup or a civil war. Hence, Constitutional crisis.

“When Trump said during the campaign that the system was rigged, he didn’t know the half of it.” Hell hath no fury as that of a woman scorned. The truth will out.

Don’t think so. But it is a recipe for a subterranean breakdown in order as various parties come to the realization that judicial opinions are merely assertions of power, prosecutions merely and indicator of who does not have influence, and news reports merely an indicator of which faction employs the reporter. The legal profession, more than any other, is guilty. Academe is guilty. The media is guilty.

Conrad Black agrees with me in regarding this as a constitutional crisis. Where we disagree is that he thinks we’ve survived it and that the guilty parties, including Democratic politicians, will pay a price. My guess is we’ve become so inured to public corruption (i.e., corruption on public display and corruption among public officials), or what you’ve aptly characterized as “[the] subterranean breakdown [of] order” that
nobody will be held to account —except maybe that IRS agent, but then everybody hates the IRS.

The fact that we’re not treating this like a Constitutional crisis is what makes it a constitutional crisis.

IRS employees aren’t held accountable for dirty tricks on behalf of Democratic pols when Democratic pols supervise the Department of Justice. Whatever happened to the character who turned over to the gay lobby confidential information in the file of the National Organization for Marriage? Nothing. I don’t need to as what happened to Lois Lerner et al.
