Frank Walker always managers to set the right tone about Pope Francis and his strange activities with a large dose of humor—in my opinion. Here is a headline from today’s http://canon212.com/

Respect for priests is just, but sometimes I wonder if our catholic honoring of priests goes to far and leads to a strange paralyzing entrapment of priest and laity.
Should a priest who opposes what the Church teaches (ie. refuses to ever talk about or mention Humanae Vitae in a sermon or otherwise) honestly be called “Father”?
Is he “really Father”? Is our calling him “Father” an act of dishonesty that traps both of us? Wouldn’t it be better to say “Good morning” rather than “Good morning Father” to a priest of this type? Sincerely.

If this hypothetical priest really opposes Church teaching, he must have talked about or mentioned the teaching he opposes at some point, or you wouldn’t know that he opposes them.

As to paralyzing passivity (i.e. fear or reluctance to preach on a hard teaching because hard teachings upset some people and make them complain to the Bishop), have you encouraged this priest to preach on H.V. or give a small group talk? Are you prepared to defend him to the Bishop against the attacks of the church of nice?

E.S. thanks for the link…cruise or battle ship.

“We go to Mass to worship God because God is worthy, because God deserves our praise and because he has commanded us to be there.”

God can live without us but we most certainly can not live worthy lives without Him. His command for us to be there is to learn true love. Agape love.
Partaking in that Love we become Taken-Blessed- Broken- and then Shared with others. Eucharistic.

On the Battleship I’ve grown closer to God.
The cruise ship isn’t for fishermen.

Great link provided by ES.

Abraham in the Bible, the Hebrew patriarch from whom all Jews trace their descent (Genesis 11:27–25:10)
Abraham is given a high position of respect in three major world faiths, Judaism, Christianity and Islam. In Judaism he is the founding father of the Covenant, the special relationship between the Jewish people and God – a belief which gives the Jews a unique position as the Chosen People of God.
Jacob, later given the name Israel, is regarded as a Patriarch of the Israelites. According to the Book of Genesis, Jacob was the third Hebrew progenitor with whom God made a covenant. Wikipedia
Jacob in the Old Testament is the son of Isaac; brother of Esau; father of the twelve patriarchs of Israel; Jacob wrestled with God and forced God to bless him, so God gave Jacob the new name of Israel (meaning `one who has been strong against God’)
After the death of Sarah, Abraham took another wife, a concubine named Keturah, by whom he had six sons: Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, andShuah. Wikipedia
God called Abram out of the land of Ur. God made a covenant with Abram by changing his name to Abraham meaning “the father of many nations”. God made a covenant with Sarai, Abram’s wife by changing her name to Sarah meaning “the mother of many nations”. God chose Abraham and Sarah to be the parents of His Chosen People. God promised Abraham and Sarah, his wife, a son within the covenant. His name was to be Isaac meaning “He laughs”. Isaac was born to Sarah and Abraham.
Although Abraham had Ishmael with the Egyptian, Hagar and six other sons with Keturah after the death of Sarah according to the law, only Isaac was the son of the covenant with God and His Chosen People.
Circumcision was the sign of the covenant.
While Abram and Sarai may have been Syrian, Abraham and Sarah were the parents of the covenant and The Chosen People, the Jews.

Philip, good link re a proposed papal encyclical, cardinal /bishop letters, and priest homilies on the subject of active homosexuality. I say active as in love the sinner, hate the sin. Thank you for referencing. Unfortunately when the molestation news was at its height, there was mostly silence about active homosexuality in the priesthood.
Can the Church recover? Can our culture recover? The acceptance of Active Homosexuality and its various iterations has and continues to creep into our culture, laws and Christian religions. In the not too distant future the 10 Commandments and the Bible will be deemed “hate” literature.

US House yesterday or Thursday passed an outrageous election bill. Even ACLU says parts are unconstitutional. Usurps individual state’s election laws and tax payer funding of candidates. Not sure voting by illegal aliens or 16 y.o. voting taken out.
Believe 6 Dems voted nay that’s how bad the legislation is. The socialist left controls. No Republican voted ay.
Sen McConnell has said he won’t let it get to the floor.
In addition to abortion, infanticide, euthanasia, one more petition to God to save our nation from evil lawmakers and laws.

and this for the NRA
Citizens’ Arrest is a natural human right, especially since citizenship entails good will for the common good. Good will for the common good requires the citizen to love his neighbor as himself in self-defense, to provide for and safeguard his neighbors civil rights as he does his own. The citizen is a “militia” of one. Armed and with the power of citizens’ arrest, law and order will be restored.

I have had a major distaste in my mouth ever since I heard Hillary tell us that it takes a village. I remember asking myself what if the village does not support the values the parents impart to their child at home? What if the schools teach things that are contrary to what the child and his parents believe? What if the village takes a parental rights away if the their daughter wants contraception or even an abortion? It takes a village? Nah, I don’t think so. It takes a loving mother and father to raise a child, not a secular society that makes no bones about detesting what I believe.

and this for the Syrians:
The Syrians cannot get over the fact that the Jews are in a Covenant with God and are The Chosen People of God. Even the slaves in the House of Israel belong to the Covenant and are God’s Chosen People. Slaves were made members of the family.
At this point the slave as a member of the family, became a free man. Not that it matters except for those hurling charges of slavery against the Chosen People, the Jews.

The Bladensburg, Maryland Cross and the Mount Soledad Cross, both memorials to fallen heroes, cannot offend any American citizen.
Death fixes our relationship with God and the state. Souls in heaven, seeing God in the Beatific Vision, do not have to go to hell. The souls of fallen heroes, patriots are sacred. Fallen patriots do not, cannot, become traitors, persona non-grata, deserters, criminals or outlaws.
Fallen patriots are American citizens forever and forever.
Their Memorial Crosses stand in testimony to their sacrifice of their present for our future and our future. Our future, the future they gave to us is not over, nor should their memory be over.
General George Washington will not become a traitor nor a deserter. These men are with Washington in eternity, patriots.

Not sure where else to put this, but I spotted a glimmer of potential good news regarding the ghastly Illinois abortion/infanticide bill on Friday…. it’s been moved to a subcommittee on “informed consent”, along with a passel of other abortion-related bills, and taken off the agenda of the full House Human Services Committee, which has to approve it in order for the full House to vote on it. This is good news because, generally, subcommittees are “where bills go to die” when there is little or no desire among legislative leaders or rank and file members to bring them to a vote. Apparently, there has been sufficient pushback to persuade Speaker Madigan, and probably others, to put the brakes on that particular legislative train. It isn’t necessarily dead yet, though. Keep those e-mails, letters, calls and prayers coming if you’re in the Land o’Lincoln!

The pro-aborts(Left) feel emboldened since the November elections. They can taste full victory in 2020 so they do not feel it necessary to hide who they are anymore. I’ve said it before that never has there been a clearer delineation of good and evil in our nation as we see today. There will be no excuse of not knowing when we are face to face with our judge.

Don’t know about that. However, reviewing the course of the Democratic Party since 1990, what hits you is that every time you might think they’ve hit bottom and can’t sink any lower, they prove you wrong. The escalating grossness doesn’t seem to bother their electorate at all.

I don’t think it’s too long a putt to state that next year’s Democratic National Convention will be highly entertaining – in the same way a 21-car pile-up at Daytona is highly entertaining.

Mary as Co-operator, but not as Co-redemtrix. Preserved from concupiscence, original sin, Mary was able to and did sublimate her will to the will of God impeccably, perfectly, simultaneously with her conception in the womb of St. Anne. For Jesus Christ being God, Christ’s will was infinitely in accord with the will of His Father, God. Mary’s will was finitely in accord with the will of Her Father God.
In addition, Jesus Christ proclaimed the Word of His Father before all ages, infinitely, while Mary magnified the Lord, God finitely.
