Pope Francis demonstrates again that he cares about his flock:

Pope Francis allowed nuns and priests to kiss his papal ring during his weekly audience in St. Peter’s Square on Wednesday, two days after a video that showed him pulling his hand away from several faithful drew disapproval from some of the pope’s conservative critics.

Some conservative Catholics think Francis has abandoned church doctrine and saw his jerking his hand away from people who hoped to kiss his ring as evidence of him shunning age-old traditions.

But many Catholics noted that the short clip making the rounds online didn’t give a full picture.

During a visit Monday to Loreto, a major Italian pilgrimage site, Francis received a long line of faithful, some of whom shook his hand, while others kissed his hand or bowed down in a gesture of reverence. He only began pulling his hand away after having greeted a large number of people.

  1. “The flock of the Pope being the media. He is quite sensitive to bad press. ”

it’s called twisting in the wind.

  2. I read online recently that Bergo does not wear a papal ring. He wears his ring from Argentina. I do not know if this is true, or not. If it is true, it is most significant.

  3. 70% of Americans Catholics view the clergy as untrustworthy according to a recent poll. That means only 30% of Catholics view clergy in a favorable light. The Pope has set the tone of his papacy as untrustworthy and it has indeed infected all of the Church. I trust not one word that comes out of his Pope’s mouth. No he is not nice and sensitive.

  4. Ed Condon was a guest on Al Kresta’s program today and he says this is much ado about nothing. I’m inclined to believe him

  5. I saw an article explaining why he did that. I said he did not want germ to spread and also he did not like the practice. I don’t buy that since he let the nuns kiss his ring
