Hmmm:

 

“The Holy Father told me that the motivation was very simple,” Vatican spokesman Alessandro Gisotti told reporters. “Hygiene.”

“He wants to avoid the risk of contagion for the people, not for him.”

The pure-minded pope was criticized by conservative Catholics this week who thought that the pope might have been trying to end hundreds of years of tradition when it came to kissing the ring.

Which is why the latter is notable and the former is less than “meh.”

In the whole scheme of things this little dust up is not stuff to worry or be anxious about. The whole Church is in dire straits at the moment and it is not because of a ring.

Pray for the Vicar of Christ and the Church. They desperately need our prayers.
