The Pope apparently hates both walls and capitalism:
Pope Francis decried President Donald Trump’s proposed border wall, saying it would make the U.S. a prisoner and that rejecting migrants was unjust.
Francis disparaged the Trump administration’s stance on immigration in an interview with Spanish journalist Jordi Evole from La Sexta on Friday before leaving for his trip to Morocco. The pontiff criticized not only the U.S., but also other countries that have put up physical barriers to illegal migrants, like Spain.
“He who raises a wall ends up a prisoner of the wall he erected,” Francis said, according to Crux Now. “That’s a universal law in the social order and in the personal one. If you raise a wall between people, you end up a prisoner of that wall that you raised.”
“Yes, I defend my autonomy, yes. But you’re left alone like a mushroom,” he added.
Francis also decried the fences that Spanish authorities put up, which have spikes atop them to deter migrants, as “shameful.” He argued that war, famine and poverty motivate migrants to leave their countries, and that Catholic faithful should be “coherent” in living according to the Gospel by welcoming migrants.
“Why do [migrants] come? [Because] they live in despair and are united in a great illusion … they don’t measure the consequences, and we don’t measure the pain those people have,” Francis said.
Francis laid the blame for poverty and war at the feet of capitalism, saying it provokes the situations that cause migrants to flee their home countries. He said nothing, however, concerning the destructive influence of socialism that has created social, political and economic crises in South American countries like Venezuela.

Yes, so true. What Capitalism provokes is freedom, success, riches, plenty, etc for most. This is what the Pope despises. Much better that the United States be poor and desperate so folks wouldn’t want to come here. Pope loco. Pope malicious.
If capitalism is so bad — Then why are people fleeing from socialism towards capitalism?
Greed and envy are bad, if capitalism were unbridled it would be bad. Anything unbridled is bad. This country is the most generous on earth accepting over one million immigrants a year.

The Vatican has walls around it. There are even metal detectors. Perhaps the walls do not completely surround the city, but the fact is, there are walls that were built to keep out barbarians.

“Capitalism” is the term slapped on the huge range of “everything that isn’t communism.” A lot of it will be bad, on the 90% of everything is crud rule of thumb.
Capitalism is not nor can it be evil. It is just an economic system based on the free market. How it is implemented and utilized by some individuals gives it a bad name. Like anything else, it can and is abused by the unscrupulous to the detriment of the poor, however, capitalism it has lifted more people out of poverty globally than any other economic system in the world.
The following is often used by communist/socialist as a way to show that their system of government follows more closely what the apostles and the community of Christians believed at the beginning of Christianity:

34.”There was no needy person among them, for those who owned property or houses would sell them, bring the proceeds of the sale, 35 and put them at the feet of the apostles, and they were distributed to each according to need.”
What anti-capitalist will not tell you however is that people were not forced to give to the community. They were not forced to sell their property and give the proceeds to the church. It was all done voluntarily and if the concept of the free market had not been available during that time, no one would have had any property to sell and give to the poor.
The following verses tells us that the whole concept of pooling our monies and resources to share with others was voluntary and not a tax or forced charity. What happened to Ananias was a result of his attempt to deceive the Holy Spirit. The property was his to do with as he wanted.
Chapter 5: 4. While it remained unsold, did it not remain yours? And when it was sold, was it not still under your control?”
It is the result of capitalism that the Church is able to pay out millions of dollars in child abuse cases, millions of dollars in various programs of charity and millions of dollars being donated by the faithful to support the Church in Rome, their own dioceses’ and personal parishes. Without capitalism the bureaucracy of the Church falls apart. And where would Peter’s Pence be?
Capitalism, like sex, is only bad when it is abused or perverted. I do wish the Pope would talk more about the Church’s time-honored position on that…particularly among the clergy.
The Pope likes to talk about things he has no control over and no responsibility for. He tends to be fairly mum on issues for which he has both responsibility and the power to do something. This Pope is a master at empty, tangled verbiage and not so much in regard to the traditional duties of a Pope.
This pope despises all that I respect in the Catholic world.

The principle of separation of church and state which the atheists use to deny man his conscience and his free exercise of religion causes only the church to have any say in the virtue of charity.

Actually, their big problem is a deficit of public order, well-delineated property rights, enforceable contracts, and human capital.
There haven’t been any active insurrections in Central America since 1992 and (bar two meagre incidents over in a couple of weeks) there haven’t been any inter-state wars since 1885.
‘Capitalism’ is the articulation of functions in productive enterprise between financier, manager, and artificer. No clue why he fancies this generates refugee flows except that he knows nothing but what he gets from talking-point mills.
There is no such things as financial equality on this earth or in this lifetime. There never has been. However, thank God the western world affords us the opportunities to determine our own means and reap the blessings for our own hard work. Even these so-called socialists governments survive on the economic capitalists system whilst imposing a socialistic order on the surface ie. China, Vietnam and as mentioned much of Central America. Deut. 14: 22-29 defines tithing and how tithes are to be spent and enjoyed. The “alien in the community” are aliens who have become part of the community through naturalization and citizenship. “Alien” does not mean illegal invader.

Too many members of the clergy in my experience seem to believe in money trees growing in the back yards of greedy laity. Too be fair, I have also encountered clergy who understand how difficult it usually is to earn money and are grateful for the financial support of the laity. However the clergy in the former category too often have higher rank than those in the latter category.
I just wish the Church was as good as the Democrats at keeping the sometimes necessary facilitators, fixers, bundlers and bagmen (Epstein) out of the official structure (McCarrick).
Gee, since Francis hates walls and capitalism so much, how about if he tears down that “wall” of the Vatican bank accounts and let out some of that evil “capital?”

Never met a clergyman like that in meatspace. However, the difficulties one has with the social encylicals is that at times they presume modes of economic organization that you simply don’t encounter much of and which it would be a challenge to reconstruct. (Either that or they don’t realize that economic actors are usually price-takers). I doubt Francis is disciplined enough to craft anything like the social encyclicals, troublesome as they are.
