News that I missed, courtesy of The Babylon Bee:

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has announced that she is leading a boycott against the popular show Sesame Street.

“I was watching it the other day,” Ocasio-Cortez explained to the press, “because I love Abby Cadabby — and then at the end, it mentioned the show was sponsored by the number seven, and I felt betrayed.”

Ocasio-Cortez identified numbers as the main opposition to all of her plans, such as giving everyone free health care and her Green New Deal. “Numbers just want people to suffer and die,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “Numbers are basically alt-right. And it felt like a stab to the heart — a place you don’t want to get stabbed — to see Sesame Street accept money from them.”

Go here to read the rest.  Saint Paul’s comment, When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things., is ignored ever at our peril in most walks of life, but especially when it comes to governing a nation.

  1. On a serious note – it is one of the saddest and most infuriating things that so many Latin Americans, no matter where they live, as well as Spaniards embrace leftist politics. They ignore the examples right in front of them. These examples are the United States and Castro’s Cuba.
Amateur intellectuals blame the Catholic Church for Latin American poverty, when in truth it was almost always a Group of Masons who led Latin America’s struggle for independence and then ruled those nations afterwards.
Occasional Cortex is so dumb that this satire could pass for real life.
The missus and I have had several discussions on the state of things between Colombia, where she was born and raised, and Poland. Colombia has all the advantages. Colombia has better weather, warm water coasts, massive reserves of clean coal and natural gas, its own oil, plenty of arable farmland and no massive and powerful enemies on its borders. The populations are about the same in number. Yet, Poland has had 29 years of economic growth, low crime, no narcoterrorists and more opportunity. Both are obviously majority Catholic. The obvious difference is the people in how they think, live and work.

“…..kids, conduits for the latest left wing software.”

Yes. Use the children you dingbat’s.
If they have the power to kill them legally, abortion on demand, then everything is fair game..isn’t it? Manipulation 101. Let the kids financially support the new green bomb buy selling lemonade. ( Do they still make lemonade stands? )

Having oil and mineral deposits is an ‘advantage’ of uncertain value. If anything, it’s a curse on balance.

If you apply some fudge factors, per capita real income levels in Poland are about 2.7x what they are in Colombia. (The purveyors of historical statistics calculate Poland’s real income level in 1929 was 1.3x that of Colombia).

Colombia has seen some fantastic improvement in the last 15 years, with a tentative conclusion to its interminable political violence and a 60% decline in its homicide rate. It is still suffering a level of insecurity you only see in inner-city slums in this country (and you never see anywhere in Poland).

  4. A major finding of my multi-year, post-doctoral field work in proctology is that the left fears and loathes data, facts, math, principles, Truth. There are two main reasons: One, they get in the way of the narrative. Two, they make them cry.

    You’re welcome.
