Men in Iran have been ordered not to look at women during Ramadan as part of a round of draconian restrictions imposed by the increasingly isolated regime.
In a sign of frustration with growing civil discontent and economic pain caused by US sanctions, hardliners in Iran’s government are forcing through unusually strict social diktats to bring people into line.
The country’s judiciary has announced that those eating in public during the fasting period are also in breach of laws and will be prosecuted.
“My personal advice to women is to respect the hijab even more than before and gentlemen must avoid looking directly at female passersby,” Gholam- Hossein Esmaili, a judiciary spokesperson said.
“Anyone ignoring these instructions during the Ramadan will be committing an offence and should expect some punishment from the law enforcement units.”
Go here to read the rest. I rather suspect that it will take more than government decrees to stop the sons of Adam from being men and the daughters of Eve from being women. Some day the mullahs are going to find themselves on a lot of little lists in Iran.
I dunno… we seem to be stopping that in the West without much decrees. But that’s a topic for another time I suppose.

The only thing Islam says to me is that it doesn’t trust the men to discipline themselves and that they cannot control their own sexual appetites if they see a woman’s hair or more. Muslim men are weak individuals who have very little confidence in themselves to be able to keep a woman without enclosing her in canvas and always in the company of a male relative lest another man attracts her and she leaves her husband. The only way to keep her submissive is to beat her and oppress her or he might be ‘dishonored’. Bunch of crap.
Maybe these new archaic measures are a sign that there is rumblings from Iranians who oppose living under this oppression. Trump should send a few rockets their way.
