A speech written by my son which I delivered at the Veteran’s Day observance in Dwight, Illinois November 11, 2017:

Why I Prefer Dogs Open Thread

Hattip to Dale Price. The usual Open Thread rules apply:  be concise, be charitable and, above all, be amusing!

  1. Praying for you and your family. Such a beautiful boy- I hope it comforts you to think of Lawrence sitting in glory and peace with Our Heavenly Father in Heaven. Pray for us Lawrence.

  2. I offered the Mass for you and your family this morning. God’s blessing on your family.

  3. “Jesus said unto her, ‘I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.'” John 11:25.

Jesus tells us, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” John 14:1-3

Lawrence is in a better place. place where “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.” Revelation 21:4.

May 4, my brother’s ashes were buried. My niece asked me to say a prayer and do some readings. The above were part of it.

  4. Lawrence….pray for all Baptized young people in medical jobs that contain temptations in the way of moral dilemnas…pharmacists, nurses…and whose college debt affects them in the temptation.

  5. Offering my prayers for Larry and the rest of your family. Can’t believe it’s been six years….

  6. Thank you for your kind words my friends. This was the first anniversary of Larry’s death to fall on a Sunday, and for me it was a bit rougher than the previous anniversaries. Our sole hope in this Vale of Tears is Christ.

  7. I never know what to say with these posts, so I’ll say God’s peace for you and yours.

  8. Thank you for sharing him with us. May our Dear Lord comfort and strengthen you and your family. What a handsome young man!

  9. Don: It is gray and somber here which matches my mood and sadness for you. Our hope is in God who alone understands the frightful pain in our hearts and the challenges of our journeys. May His peace and comfort be with you and your family now and forever…
