PopeWatch: Conversion

The Pope is all in favor of conversion:

The world needs an ecological “conversion” in order to manifest the Church’s vision of an integral human ecology, Pope Francis said in an address to a conference on the social teaching of the Church.

“…the word ‘conversion’ assumes a special importance in our present situation. Adequate responses to current problems cannot be superficial. Rather, what is needed is precisely a conversion, a ‘turning around’, that is, a transformation of hearts and minds,” Pope Francis said on Saturday, June 8.

Go here to read the rest.  This is putting the language of religion at the service of the latest Leftist cause du jour.  For Pope Francis Catholicism is only of importance as a means to his political ends.

The ship is listing, the course is erratic, the storm rages… and the captain says: “although the rains keep coming, make sure you conserve water. That’s the mark of an able seaman”.

Is Salvation taking a back seat to a world that MUST be saved by human efforts?

If so, where is this written in Holy text or Tradition that our first and foremost concern is ecological?

Himself needs conversion and how.

Our Father, who art in heaven…..

Donald,

I read the article to which you had provided a link. It states in part:

“While there is much work to be done, the Pope pointed to some signs of growth in these areas – the adoption, by many nations, of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations Organization; a growing investment in renewable and sustainable energy sources; new methods of energy efficiency; and a greater sensitivity, especially among young people, to ecological concerns.’”

This Pope is a dumb idiot. These two article by Michael Shellenberger (himself surprisingly a Democrat with yet the capacity of common sense) explains why:

We Shouldn’t Be Surprised Renewables Make Energy Expensive Since That’s Always Been The Greens’ Goal

I will again post a link to Oecologia et Energia Nuclearis

And to Oecologia et Sanitas

This Pope is a freaking nit wit. I got zero respect for him. He doesn’t preach a darn thing about conversion and repentance, righteousness and holiness, and he opens his useless trap about stuff on which he has no knowledge, no expertise, no training, no education, no experience. Yes, I do hope the good Lord slaps that Argentinian face so hard that a red mark is indelibly imprinted across his cheek. I gotta stop now. It just is so freaking frustrating to be a Catholic having to defend the faith against a worthless useless leader whose ignorance is exceeded only by his pride. I work with people super-knowledgeable in electrical generation and when they read this Pope’s crap, they laugh! It’s completely ludicrous.

We prioritize what we value. For Francis, environment > souls. Sure he’s not a heretic.

Philip Nachazel, Yes, ‘salvation is taking a back seat.’

From Orwell’s essay, “Reflections on Gandhi”

“Gandhi himself says, ‘in the end deceivers deceive only themselves.'”

“. . .Gandhi’s teachings cannot be squared with the belief that Man is the measure of all things and that our job is to make life worth living on this earth, which is the only earth we have.”

“But it is not necessary here to argue whether the other-worldly or the humanistic ideal is ‘higher.’ The point is that they are incompatible. One must choose between God and Man, and all ‘radicals’ and ‘progressives,’ from the mildest liberal to the most extreme anarchist, have in effect chosen Man.”

Father of Seven,

This is my point – the heretic values NEITHER souls NOR the environment.

If he valued the former, then he would be preaching conversion and repentance, righteousness and holiness. He would never have signed the Adu Dhabi declaration, nor have said, “Who am I to judge?” He would never have put perverts in charge, nor would he have greased the skids to hell for adulterers.

If he values the latter, then he would reject renewable energy as the green power, black death that it is. Useless worthless wind doesn’t work when there’s no wind in summer and when the turbine blades ice up in winter. And solar doesn’t work at night, on cloudy days or when snow covers the solar panels. Every renewable energy facility is just another methane burner for the 70% of the time that it doesn’t generate electricity, and methane is 20 times the green gas that CO2 is. If the idiot from Argentina really valued the environment, then he would say, “Go nuclear all the way.” Nuclear has the SMALLEST mortality rate per terawatt hour, even including TMI (which neither injured nor killed anyone), Chernobyl (a mad communist design never permitted in the West – but the Pope likes commies), and Fukushima (which again neither injured nor killed any member of the public).

Update of Death per Terawatt hour by Energy Source

https://www.nextbigfuture.com/2016/06/update-of-death-per-terawatt-hour-by.html

But the Marxist Peronist Caudillo doesn’t care about mortality rate per terawatt hour and darn sure doesn’t give a flying hoot about either souls or the environment. He never has. He never will. He only cares about accolades from news media and politicians.

I say depose and anathematize this heretic, and send him back to Buenos Aires from whence he came.

Father of Seven,
Absolutely… “We prioritize what we value” and how we spend our time.
I once worked for a manager who was fond to say to people: “what do you mean you didn’t have time? we all have 24 hours each day.”

Putting the language of religion at the service of leftist political causes did not begin with Pope Francis. In the U.S., even bishops who are considered conservative and orthodox (like the present archbishop of Philadelphia who will remain nameless) have been doing that for decades.

When I hear people say stop worrying about Western Civilization or the United States because they aren’t the kingdom of God after all, I always want to say stop worrying about the planet, it isn’t the Kingdom of God after all.

Ditto to Dave Griffey’s comment. 2nd Peter 3:7&10 applies. Global warming will indeed consume the Earth, and NOT in the way these liberal nit wits think.

“…But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist have been stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men….But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, and the elements will be dissolved with fire, and the earth and the works that are upon it will be burned up.”

LQC: I agree with your assessment. You can always tell what a liberal is actually against by listening to what he says he is actually for. All this emphasis on the environment by the Pope is nothing more than a smokescreen for increased centralized control by the elites. Instead of Christ, the Pope’s answer to everything appears to be more power to the U.N. He truly is a chastisement.
