Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 41 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
Mark has completely embraced the racism of today, in which case you can simply drop the word ‘white’ and assume racist. It’s basically Dred Scott for the correct skin color this time. The speed with which it has been embraced is telling, especially from people who spent decades decrying the judgement of people based on skin color. But then, I doubt there are many sins or evils of the Left that Mark won’t at least defend, if not completely embrace.
That’s a humor publication to which he’s referring, right?
Shea’s beginning to sound like Andrew Sullivan in his cups.
It is really sad. I think he is mentally ill. A long time ago I bought some audio tapes of his to listen to in the car. The material was Catholically orthodox and was really good. He is now a leftist caricature of his former self. Pride truly is the original deadly sin.
racism… racism… racism…
“The word ‘racism’ is like ketchup. It can be put on practically anything – and demanding evidence makes you a ‘racist.’ ”
Thomas Sowell …
What a maroon.
Yep, Art. It’s the equivalent of the Onion or other such sites. He apparently turned on them 5 days ago:

Isn’t it always interesting how to the left it’s not the plethora of media they possess, but the one right-leaning media that’s always the problem.
This is what happens when you start dating Rachel Dolezal.
Father of 7, Shea isn’t mentally ill, he’s just an intellectual moron. An intellectual moron, according to Daniel Flynn, the author of “Intellectual Morons” is a person who buys into an ideology, such as communism, fascism, et al, as the ultimate explaination for everything
When something comes along tjat can’t be explained by their ideology, they have to lash out, condemn it, or ignore it. It’s impossible for them to think outside their ideological box. A person of average intelligence, who’s not boxed in by ideology, can see what’s wrong, but our so-called intellectual can’t. That’s why they and Shea are morons.
Shea is an intellectual moron. According to Daniel Flynn, the author of a book titled the same, an intellectual moron is a person who embraces an ideology, such as communism, fascism, et al, as the ultimate explaination for everything. However, when something comes along that can’t be explained by their ideology, they are stumped. They won’t change their ideology, so they have the choice ignoring what doesn’t fit into their ideas, or attacking it. They just can’t think outside the box.

I wouldn’t take Flynn terribly seriously. And his choice of terminology is idiosyncratic and silly.
What Thos. Sowell has said: articulateness is not the same as intelligence. Shea is an articulate person. But he’s an autodidact and at sea when discussing anything to do with production or social relations. AFAIK, he’s never really said what he’s done for a living apart from his writing. (One of his critics offered that hiring him would be akin to hiring Rosie O’Donnell). I seem to recall a vague reference to having studied English literature long ago. The thing is, most people don’t have vehement opinions about matters which do not impinge on daily life or about matters in which they’re unschooled.
Art, you said you wouldn’t take Fiynn seriously, but everything you said in your reply is what Flynn said in his book. Have you ever read Intellectual Morons?

What, Flynn wrote about Mark Shea? Or he quoted Thomas Sowell?
Flynn is a career conservative. He’s a movement functionary retired into writing books that can be marketed by Regnery. He doesn’t bring anything to the table (unless you’re fascinated by recondite discussions of 1980s pop bands).
