Something for the weekend, Going Home sung by Sissel Kyrkjebø. The music of the song was taken from Dvorak’s New World Symphony. The lyrics were written in 1922 by Dvorak’s pupil William Ames Fisher. My family and I are homeward bound from Indianapolis and Gencon. Vacations are nice, but home is ever the best.
I recall from my childhood, this version by Paul Robeson:
My mother was a great fan of his, along with many other classics of that era. Mum had a beautiful singing voice, and I am proud to be the one in our family to inherit that from. her.
