Hypocrisy

All the Fake News That’s Fit to Print.

Slogan of The New York Times

News that I missed, courtesy of The Babylon Bee:

U.S.—Many on the right have reacted with outrage to The New York Times on its story about Brett Kavanaugh where it basically made up a new charge against him. This is being looked at as hypocrisy, though, as many of those same people enjoy it when Christian satire site The Babylon Bee makes things up.

“How amusing. How droll,” said conservative Reginald P. Merriwether in reaction to a Babylon Bee article about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. “This is something slightly dumber than what Ocasio-Cortez would actually do. What entertaining malarky.” But when Merriwether read the Times article reporting on a fabricated incident involving Kavanaugh that was not backed up by the alleged victim, his reaction was quite different. “This is malfeasance!” Merriwether exclaimed.

Both The Babylon Bee article and The New York Times article were given the “Labeled Satire” designation by Snopes, proving that The New York Times is no less accurate than The Babylon Bee. Yet many on the right are calling for recriminations from the Times while they are perfectly happy with the Bee.

“Conservatives are stupid. I hate them!” said Vox writer Ian Millhiser, expressing a common sentiment.

Go here to read the rest.  I do admit that it does all fall into place if The New York Times is viewed as a Leftist version of The Babylon Bee.  Without the brilliant humor of course.

For most of us the purpose of news is to support our ideology. A balanced view requires much more investigation. I subscribe to the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal daily but mainly focus on the Journal and get mad reading the Times. This is not healthy.

Another slogan could be, “All the News that Fits, We Print.”
