Poor Puppet

News that I missed, courtesy of The Babylon Bee:

NEW YORK, NY—Climate activist and adolescent Greta Thunberg gave a passionate speech at the UN Climate Action Summit in New York, declaring, “How dare you? You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words, and yet I’m one of the lucky ones. People are suffering. People are dying. Entire ecosystems are collapsing.”

“This is all wrong,” she declared, clearly on the verge of tears.

Savvy viewers, however, noticed there were marionette strings attached to the 16-year-old throughout her speech.

“Hey, wait a minute!” one attendee shouted. “Those are puppet strings, kinda like on Thunderbirds!” This caused some uproar, with everyone tracing the strings to see who had brainwashed this young girl into thinking the world was ending and pulling her strings. Some people got bored with the speech after that and just went and watched Thunderbirds, which had more interesting puppets and better acting.

Go here to read the rest.  Causes which cannot stand cold analysis always rely on emotion and hysteria, and a clearly troubled teen, or a willful brat, can amply supply both.

More to explorer

  1. I am so sick of people who use children to further their own cause or any cause but especially when the cause is a hoax. The kids are used as pawns, collateral damage, if need be just for the sickening power of control over the masses by the adults manipulating these children, and they are children. Take a look at this from TGP:

  2. My bad. It seems the video may have been faked and I apologize, but what I do know is that children, even in our own local school have brought up the issue that they probably will not be able to live a normal life because of climate change if they even have a future. Sick.

  3. Don’t worry, I hear she is certain there are more than 2 genders and that desire is 100% genetic. So if she’s a little over the top on some issues, it’s the fault of those religious conservatives from America that make her that way.

  4. “She’s a human shield for would-be tyrants”
The trouble with would-be tyrants is that they do not know how to tyrannize. “Its like herding cats” Christopher Hitchens

  5. Somewhere in the last couple of days, I saw this assessment: “She’s in on the joke or she is the joke”. I cannot conceive of a parent who would allow their child to be used this way, nor can I imagine an adult so gross as to propose to a parent that his child be a pr prop in this way. (Child models and child performers I can conceive of, but given how common it is for youths employed in that trade to end up in ruins, it’s hard to forgive parents for co-operating unless they have been – like Macauley Culkin’s family – financially desperate).

Those of us of a certain vintage have seen this film before. The ending wasn’t pleasant the last time.

  6. Here’s another assessment, from Glenn Reynolds: “Poor kid — she’s just a younger, more vulnerable Cindy Sheehan, and like Sheehan will be discarded as soon as she’s no longer of use. In the meantime, her moral theatrics have grown tedious.”

  7. “Asperger Syndrome (AS), a subgroup conceptualized as part of the autistic spectrum, … A resistance to change; Average or above average intelligence (IQ).”

My son’s friend has this, he is highly intelligent and highly believable, but as easily miss led and obsessive compulsive.
What the climate activists have done with this child is nothing short of child abuse. It’s sickening.

  8. I’m going to take a wild guess here.
Her mother might be the type that doesn’t think twice about taking young daughter to be outfitted with the most up to date contraceptives. And, as they sometimes do, fail in preventing a pregnancy, she would use the extermination process via Planned Parenthood.

Now THAT is something to cry about little missy. The death toll from severe climate change in the womb exceeds 60 million people.

    She’s not just a puppet.
She’s a future collaborator in the murder of her own child and the band plays on.

    40 days for Life. Let’s save a baby. Let’s change the tune….forever.

  9. Dennis Prager did an article about this titled “If You Can’t Sell Your Hysteria to Adults, Try Kids.” URL:
In the article he said: ‘Instead, thanks to leftists (who are children in adult bodies), they live in their grip of “existential eco-anxiety.”.’
There are way too many people whose only qualification for adulthood is the date on their birth certificate.

  10. Reminds me of nothing so much as the nuclear freeze movement.

At least in the 80s we got some halfway decent music out of all that angst and consciousness raising.

  11. Reminds me of nothing so much as the nuclear freeze movement.

See period articles in The New Republic and Commentary on children as props, as well as the bilge peddled by the usual policy-grifters in the mental health trade. (I seem to recall Robert Jay Lifton was among them).

  12. David- our eldest son would probably be diagnosed with it if we used public school, and our second-eldest daughter has a lot of the same symptoms that can be dealt with using the “spectrum” coping mechanisms.

It would be fairly easy to manipulate them into being puppets like this– heaven knows I work hard enough to keep media from doing it to them!

There are way too many people whose only qualification for adulthood is the date on their birth certificate.

    Great line, and /amen.

  13. Greta Thunberg’s presentation bears a striking resemblance to Veruca Salt (I Want It Now!) in the 1971 movie “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.”

See Lynette Burrows on child protective authorities in Sweden. Per Burrows, the rate of child seizures in Sweden exceeds that in Germany and the United States by a factor of 20. In 1979, malevolent social workers were awarded by their witless politicians a tool few of their counterparts have: a statute which makes spanking a child unlawful.
