I agree with Colonel Schlichter:
Come on, betters, “wow” us with your mad society-running skillz.
We know what America achieved under the old ruling class. It beat the Nazis – the real Nazis, not the fake bugaboo “Nazis” that the left labels everyone to the right of Felonia Milhous von Pantsuit. It fought through the Depression. It trashed the Democrat’s Jim Crow regime. It designed the ’65 Mustang, created the Big Mac and put a man on the moon. It crushed the dirty commies in the Cold War. The old elite was not perfect, but at least you can point to some tics in the “WIN” column.
Not so with the coterie of half-wits running our institutions today. It’s all check marks under “LOSS.” Iraq. The Wall Street Meltdown. Obamacare. Obama himself.
Oh, and then there’s Jeffrey Epstein.
Do you see a lot of successes? Do you see any? Have I overlooked some tremendous victory this generation of our betters pulled off? I can’t think of any offhand – gee, how about social media? Yeah, there’s progress.
We are actually losing ground. Our light bulbs don’t light anymore, our front-loading washing machines don’t wash anymore and our straws don’t straw anymore. Even our Star Wars movies today are exponentially crappier than the ones from 40 years ago.
So, what’s just one great thing the magnificent, magical masterminds of our elite have pulled off since maybe 2000?
Go here to read the rest. Elites who don’t deliver cease to be elites over time. Trump is only the beginning manifestation of huge discontent over the misruling of America.
Should the Dems/Left become victorious there will be no WOW in the future of this country.
I believe it’s not that our “betters” are incompetent, it’s that they
have no interest in improving things for the nation as a whole.
They’ve been very effective indeed at lining their own pockets,
protecting their interests, normalizing decadence, excusing
themselves from the rule of law, consolidating their strangle-
hold on media and education, and demonizing all opposition.
They’ve made it safe for themselves to make no secret of their
contempt for the vast majority of Americans outside their class.
It’s not that they’re incompetent. It’s just that what they want
to accomplish has nothing to do with what’s good for this
nation as a whole, and so far they’ve made great strides in
achieving those goals. By their own standards, they’re very
successful, indeed.
What there will be is some kind of insurrection. I’m not going to sit around and just take what they dish out. They back down when confronted. Just like Islam does.
And the phenomenon is global. Case in point: Brexit, the yellow vests in France, populist movements in central Europe.
Oh. One more case, a counter- example of what you get when the “elites” get their way (and what we narrowly avoided in 2016):
Pope Francis.
The Americans didn’t defeat the Nazi’s; the Russians did. By the time America invaded France, the cream of the German Army lay dead in the fields of Russia.
Without US Lendlease the Soviets may well have lost their war, or it may have ended in stalemate. American Spam kept the Red Army fed, and the logistics of the Soviets on offense would have been impossible without endless American trucks. The US and British bombing of Germany caused the Luftwaffe to strip the Eastern front of fighter units and allowed the Soviets to establish air superiority. Additionally, about one-fifth-one quarter of the German Army was deployed in the West, awaiting the Allied invasion. The defeat of Nazi Germany was very much of a team effort. Last word to Marshal Zhukhov:
“Now they say that the allies never helped us, but it can’t be denied that the Americans gave us so many goods without which we wouldn’t have been able to form our reserves and continue the war,” Soviet General Georgy Zhukov said after the end of WWII.
“We didn’t have explosives, gunpowder. We didn’t have anything to charge our rifle cartridges with. The Americans really saved us with their gunpowder and explosives. And how much sheet steel they gave us! How could we have produced our tanks without American steel? But now they make it seem as if we had an abundance of all that. Without American trucks we wouldn’t have had anything to pull our artillery with.”
Elites base most of their thinking on theories, not reality. They try to force reality into their ideological concepts. Elites can’t stomach reality or the folks who operate within its bounds.
Excuse me…
If George Soros was to wear a black hoodie he would uncannily look like Darth Sidious.
Strange…..but true.
Sam Jones, I don’t know what history elixir you’ve been drinking, but put the flask down for good (“The Russians defeated the Nazis, not us..”). Everyone pulling together, a novel concept today, defeated the Nazis.
No, I don’t want to get into the furious silly internet back-and-forth involving minutiae of history. I think Don McClarey has answered the question quite adequately.
But put the elixir flask down, please. Whatever is in it, it is muy mal. Senor.
Then, president Reagan consigned to the dustbin of History the evil empire.
In addition to being utterly incompetent, they hate us and the uses we make of our liberties.
Everything is politicized. Every issue (mainly hoaxes like climate change, black lives matter, the health care crisis of the finest health care system on Earth, guns!!!) is deployed as a weapon in the assault on liberty and as a lever for elites’ seizing more power and control.
The notion that unelected anti-Trump, deep state/CIA/FBI/DoJ bureaucrats are feverishly laboring for the interests of the American people is ‘bat$#!+ crazy.’
21 Oct 2019, Dr. Sean Gabb, “These people are not our servants. They are a hostile elite. Their interests are not ours. They despise us. They fear us. They are determined not to give us even the shadow of what we were – perhaps unwisely – promised.”
From 28 Oct 2019 Barron’s interview with an Ian Bremmer: Institutions increasingly don’t work. Governments are unable to perform for their people – ergo the rise of populism. Technology has moved from undermining authoritarian states to supporting them with surveillance data and social media, making the US weaker and more divided and China/authoritarian states stronger.
