Prayers For Our Dead

O happy fault that earned for us so great, so glorious a Redeemer.

Exsultet

All Souls Day is a  good time to start a post where we can pray for our dead:

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

I ask Lord that the souls of Larry McClarey, Donald D. McClarey, Mary McClarey, Charles Stringer, Raymond McClarey, Thelma McClarey, Ralph McClarey, Chuck McClarey, Roscoe McClarey, Betty Taylor, Chris Bissey, Rowena Barry, Nanny Barry, Alice Moore, Dyke Moore, Fred Strufe, Heidi Strufe, and some poor soul known only to You, may even now be enjoying the Beatific Vision, and, if they are in Purgatory, that their time there may be shortened, consistent with Your Will.  May we all share in the joy of those who now see You face to face.

List the souls you wish to pray for in the comboxes.

St. Gertrude the Great: “I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family”.
Prayers for all the souls whose remains are interred in St. Paul Catholic Mission, Hague VA. Especially for the soul of Karl Mileski who remains were recently laid to rest near his murdered mother and brother. For the soul of the father Raymond Mileski, Sr. who died in prison for their murders.
For all souls in Purgatory who have no one else to pray for them.

Release A Soul From Purgatory.Each Day 1 – 8 November.
“Why Should We Visit a Cemetery to Pray for the Dead?
The Church offers an Indulgence for a Cemetery Visit that is available as a partial indulgence all year round, but from November 1 through November 8, this indulgence is plenary. Like the All Souls Day indulgence, it is applicable only to the souls in Purgatory. As a plenary indulgence, it remits all punishment due to sin, which means that simply by performing the requirements of the indulgence, you can obtain the entrance into Heaven of a soul who is currently suffering in Purgatory.

This indulgence for a visit to a cemetery encourages us to spend even the briefest of moments in prayer for the dead in a location that reminds us that we, too, will someday need the prayers of the other members of the Communion of Saints—both those still living and those who have entered into eternal glory. For most of us, the indulgence for a cemetery visit takes only a few minutes, and yet it reaps immense spiritual benefit for the Holy Souls in Purgatory—and for us as well, since those souls whose suffering we ease will pray for us when they enter into Heaven.”

Donald – thanks. CAM: Thanks for that reminder; I’d forgotten about that…
Our prayers are for all the faithful departed in Purgatory from the clans Soucy, Medina, Dizon, Quinn, Ford, Golf, Paradis, Doh, Galang, Coles, Manapsal, and Laxama. For those who have no one to pray for them. For those from the military. May they all rest in peace.
