Capitulation, or how Chick-fil-A Got Woke and Will Go Broke

Conservatives have no friends in big business:

Chick-fil-A said Monday that it has stopped donations to several Christian organizations after receiving backlash from LGBT rights activists over the last several weeks.

The U.S. fast food chain said that as it expands, it will no longer donate to the Salvation Army, the Paul Anderson Youth Home, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, which opposes same-sex marriage. The company’s charity, the Chick-fil-A Foundation, has donated millions of dollars to the two organizations.

“We made multi-year commitments to both organizations and we fulfilled those obligations in 2018,” a representative for Chick-fil-A said, saying the chain will now focus its charitable donations on “education, homelessness and hunger.”

The franchise, famous for closing on Sunday and including Bible verses on its paper cups, plans to donate a total of close to $9 million to charity include a $25,000 to a local food bank for each new restaurant the company opens.

“There’s no question we know that, as we go into new markets, we need to be clear about who we are,” Chick-fil-A President and Chief Operating Officer Tim Tassopoulos told Bisnow. “There are lots of articles and newscasts about Chick-fil-A, and we thought we needed to be clear about our message.”

Go here to read the rest.  Oh the message is quite clear.  Your Christianity extends no further than being closed on Sunday.  A nice kick in the teeth to your loyal supporters and a grand victory for the Intolerant Left.  Can’t way to see your rainbow chicken to celebrate pride month. The chickens you cook have more courage.

I’m sure this will do wonders for their sales, now that those armies of lgbtq(rstuvwyxz123abc) folk won’t be there to keep normal people from ordering fresh chicken sandwiches and waffle fries. Not to mention all the new lgbtq(rstuvwyxz123abc) customers they’ll attract!

They are making a calculation that conservatives are far less passionate about defending our values and freedoms than liberals are at destroying them. We’ll see. I notice a lot of vegan and vegetarian signs in those protests, and can’t see them flocking to CFA now. I also, however, can’t see conservatives do much different either.

How many LGBTQ hellions are there compared to the tens of millions of moral and venial people?

I don’t like it. I will continue to infrequently (it’s not close and we’re mainly on a plant-based diet – warden’s blood pressure and weight issues) eat there. The service and product are superior.

THIS IS A LIE. EVERY SITE I’VE SEEN IS PUBLISHING THIS BULL CRAP LIBEL WITH A CNN HEADLINE.

CHICK-FIL-A DID NOT DO ANYTHING YOU ARE ACCUSING THEM OF DOING.

They have NOT changed their stance on gay marriage. They have NOT affirmed homosexuality. They have NOT stopped saying it was a sin.

Whoever is spreading this cancer on the Internet should be sued for libel. CFA has in no way rejected its message that homosexuality is an abomination.

Sounded kinda ‘off’ when I first heard about it yesterday, and it’s interesting that all the qutoes I’d seen up to the article I’m going to link were from the exact same Reuter’s feed.

Seriously, they have been “under attack” for about a decade, now– and they give up at this point? Doesn’t make sense, but it does sound like the kind of manufactured victory some of the activsts love to push.

CFA says they’re just trying to do more targeted giving…which, honestly, I appreciate. That’s what I do with my charity, rather than givign to big groups.

The question is, CFA says it is going to cut ties with certain groups like Fellowship of Christian Athletes and The Salvation Army in order to focus more on charities for helping the poor and encouraging education. Could someone please tell me how that sounds consistent? I’d like to see what they will be giving to. I think that will speak volumes.

If the USCCB had any balls and conviction all of this nonsense could be stopped it seems to me if the Bishops were to take the side of Christian charities harmed by LBGT actions. LBGT is really a hate group.

Dave-
they didn’t say they’re “cutting ties” with anyone, that was the reporter’s characterization.

Who among us hasn’t had some gadfly jump on their totally unrelated actions to declare victory?

Interesting, the writer neglected to point put out that those same “Christian” organizations receive funding and support Planned Parenthood. And they always change groups they support. One of the new groups receiving support is a Catholic organization. I guess “The American Catholic” is like the “National catholic Reporter.” Not really Catholic as the writer insinuates a Catholic organization is not Christian.

Foxfier, I’m sorry but I can’t push the limits of credulity to the point of believing that CFA’s decision to cut ties (which has been confirmed by the Salvation Army), isn’t because of why we darn well know it is. It’s not like the SA isn’t known for excelling at the very things CFA says it wants to prioritize.

Remember, this comes in the wake of two things. First a growing number of institutions and even municipalities outright banning CFA and, second, the recent media hype and promotion of competitor Popeye’s restaurant chain (with editorials admitting this is why the press is supporting Popeye’s over CFA).

Again, I figure it’s a calculation on CFA’s part. It assumes its conservative and Christian base will not take a stand the way its opponents have. Personally, I’m betting CFA is correct.

“There’s no question we know that, as we go into new markets, we need to be clear about who we are,”
Marriage consists in the marital act. Sodomy is not the marital act therefore, not marriage.
CFA will never find out who they are going this way

We have stopped donating to the Salvation Army because of their support of Planned Parenthood and diverted those contributions to a local group, Agape, that helps the poor and homeless. I don’t know anything about the Fellowship of Christian Athletes but just from the name, I can think of other charities to which I’d rather donate.
We don’t have a Chick-Fila near us (closest one is in State College, home of Penn State), but if we do come across one we’ll certainly eat there. I wonder if they have mail order or delivery online?

Foxfier, Dave, Don, and Bob have all made excellent points. I find mindself now stuck in an agnostic position on this. Hmm….

Part of me wonders how we could even determine the truth of this without mind-reading tech.

Nate, to me consider the context. Remember, two things have developed over the last several months. One was a growing number of local municipalities, institutions, universities and even European governments essentially banning CFA from entering their market areas, or at least floating the idea of doing so. The other was the media’s promotion and marketing for CFA’s competitor Popeye’s. For almost a month I saw various news outlets all but setting newscast time aside to plug Popeye’s chicken sandwich as the alternative to CFA. Popeye’s didn’t even have to advertise. And there were editorials that explained exactly why Popeye’s was preferred (great chicken, no homophobic bigotry). In the wake of this, suddenly CFA comes out and says it will restructure its giving to focus on things like education and helping the poor, even as some of those it is cutting ties with focus on those very things (but are targets of the Left). It’s possibly, however unlikely, that it’s all cosmic coincidence and means nothing at all. To me, the easier assumption is just as it appears and how most on all sides are taking it: CFA finally blinked.

This is interesting: Chick-fil-A put an Obama and Hillary supporter in charge of their corporate philanthropy

Like many corporations, Chick-fil-A branded its charitable giving as a form of social responsibility. Bullard became its Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility. Unlike charity, corporate social responsibility is a leftist endeavor to transform corporations into the political arms of radical causes. Like other formerly conservative corporations, Chick-fil-A had made the fundamental error of adopting the language and the infrastructure of its leftist peers. And that made what happened entirely inevitable.

…recent media hype and promotion of competitor Popeye’s restaurant chain…
Dave Griffey

There is no apostrophe in the name Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen. (Avoid the grocer’s apostrophe.)

Mess with the little heads of the perversion promoting media secularists. Point out that Popeyes spells out Pope Yes and that has led to at least one Protestant becoming a Catholic Christian.
