Ezra Pound Couldn’t Have Said it Better

Dave Griffey at Daffey Thoughts reads Mark Shea so we don’t have to:

Of the type that leads to 9/11s, mass killings, atrocities and terror regimes.  Here (apparently in reference to President Trump’s speech following last nights rocket attacks):

Enough said.

Other than that I, too, praise God for peace.  I hope and pray all leaders have their hearts softened and are guided by the Spirit away from the hatred and blind rage that can so easily propel the world into conflicts and violence.

FWIW, anyone forgetting this:

You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.

Is not a person worth listening to where the call for peace and loving of one’s neighbor is concerned. I would rather listen to the Iranian leadership discuss human rights.  Instead, I look for those who are serious about pursuing this:

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Go here to comment.  Mark is quite clear on who the enemy is, and in his view it most certainly is not the blood-stained Mullahs ruling Iran.

Mark went on to expand it into a full post here:

Along with deep, deep stupidity in the comments.

Why would anyone trust a man who cannot accurately read or interpret his contemporaries speaking the same language in the same culture, to then give a fair account of the words of a people in another time, culture and language?

I think this here sums things up rather neatly.

Too many people who ought to know better are taking their cues from the wrong people.

Another case in point.

Nate, I can’t imagine what the comments are, but that rant of Mark’s jumped out at me. If you oppose Trump because you insist he’s killing thousands of people, then what sense does it make to give thumbs up and kudos to world leaders who have boasted of killing thousands of people.

Does Shea think it’s a good idea to have as a profile picture, a photo of him shirtless. A good look for a “catholic apologist,” huh. Bizarre.

This entire satirical recollection of events is akin to a book describing how the US became involved in WW2 that never mentions Pearl Harbor.

The way I see it, Valiant Statesman Trump approached a group of bullies, busted the leaders nose and asked who else wants a whipping. The bullies ran away, but gave Trump the finger to show their toughness.

Enough about how in 2016, Nobel Peace Laureate Barack Hussein Obama dropped 26,000 bombs and had seven foreign wars ongoing. And, enough about how In 2012, Obama rationalized killing a 16 year-old American citizen.

T.Shaw, that’s the really funny part in his latest rant:
https://www.patheos.com/blogs/markshea/2020/01/some-elementary-catholic-moral-reasoning.html

When both parties support abortion, as is the case in the US, you can vote to try to stop the party that supports Abortion+Unjust War+Kidnapping of Children+Denial of Health Care+Science Idiocy etc.
That would be the GOP, in case you are unclear. It supports not only unjust war, but is 100% responsible for the establishment and entrenchment of our abortion regime with Roe and Casey.

I suppose if you stick your fingers in your ear and shut your eyes hard enough you can ignore the Dems performance of the exact same actions…

From what I’ve been seeing and reading some people are acting like the USA already had boots on the ground in Iran and were half way to Tehran.

Mr. Shea is The Baghdad Bob of apologetics

“That [Shea] is doing all of this while professing to be against abortion demonstrates the infinite human capacity for mendacity, especially for themselves.”

My 2nd AA sponsor back some 30 years ago said, “The only person you can BS is yourself because eventually others will see through the stinking smear you cover yourself with.”

I consider Mark a living cautionary tale for being on the Internet. At this point he has all the earmarks of a cult leader but without anyone foolish enough to comprise his followers. It’s sad really. Maddening, but sad.

“….but without anyone foolish enough to comprise his followers.”

Oh, he has followers – in the twin cesspools known as Twitter and Facebook. But nobody really willing to do anything except vote Democrat. Just fools.

I don’t know. Sometimes I think he’s their follower, he just doesn’t know it. .

LQC, For instance, I just saw a copy of his Twitter posting. Apparently he posted something to the effect of ‘when dealing with the subject of Hell, ask ‘what do we know anyway?” That reminds me of his ‘who can have an opinion?’ response to the Democrats’ push to broaden late term abortion rights in response to the anti-abortion legislation passed last year. It seems his default is that when it comes to Church teaching, you just never know. What he does know, however, is that he is 100% obedient to the Church, therefore he doesn’t write his opinion about social and political topics, he simply writes Gospel Truth. Again, cult leader characteristic. At best, fundamentalist caricature.

Quite right, Dave Griffey. Mark Shea is as fanatically fundamentalist in his way as any Southern Baptist or Pentecostal, any radical Muslim, or any rabid leftist atheist.
