Saint of the Day Quote: Saint Messalina

Hic subtus iacet corpus sanctæ Messalinæ.

Inscription on the sarcophagus of Saint Messalina discovered on December 13, 1599. A young woman, she was martyred around 250 and was a companion of Saint Felician and cared for him in prison before his martyrdom in 250.  Saint Felician was approximately 90 at the time.
