Archbishop For Democrats Only

1] Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to his disciples, [2] Saying: The scribes and the Pharisees have sitten on the chair of Moses. [3] All things therefore whatsoever they shall say to you, observe and do: but according to their works do ye not; for they say, and do not. [4] For they bind heavy and insupportable burdens, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but with a finger of their own they will not move them. [5] And all their works they do for to be seen of men.

Matthew 23: 1-5

Imagine being such a brain dead partisan that you blast a politician and his wife for paying a visit to a Catholic shrine.

Of course the Archbishop isn’t against all politicians:

Fortunately there are still real Catholics around:

I find it surprising how not surprised I am that a politician with a checkered past shows more episcopal spine than the entire U.S. Catholic hierarchy.

Pelosi? And he blasts Trump? What is wrong with the US Bishops? Personally I wouldn’t expect him to object if Pelosi visited to give respects at the shrine, though she is Catholic, and that’s a bit different. But Clinton or Bush or Obama, that’s fine. Let them come. What’s wrong with him?

What’s wrong with the bishops is that they’re generic NGO executives (not the most impressive of occupational segments) pretty worthless at their primary functions. Not precisely a novel phenomenon in the Church (though the precise corruptions of each age may differ), but if I’m not mistaken in previous centuries bad bishops tended to leave doctrinal and moral teachings in peace. I think James Hitchcock concluded you had to go back to the 9th century to see examples of certain latter-day phenomena.

We’ve known for 15 years that Wilton Gregory is a useless organization man.

Anyone here remember the last Archbishop of Washington, D.C. who was actually a practicing Catholic? Certainly the last three cannot be so categorized.

I was astonished at these remarks by Archbishop Gregory. It was unfortunate enough that he castigated our President. But his attack on the St. John Paul II Shrine itself runs the risk of making it a target. My wife and I have been blessed to visit this wonderful shrine a number of times. I hope and pray that it will not now be a target of violence due to the Archbishops words.

Equally disturbing is the notion that someone can be declared “unworthy” to visit a Catholic shrine, or presumably a Catholic church. A Catholic shrine and Catholic churches should welcome everyone for a visit. Is there anything in Catholic teaching that forbids any but those adjudged “worthy” by a local bishop from visiting a shrine or church? Of course not. It was an honor that the President and the First Lady chose to visit and pray at the shrine. St. John Paul II no doubt, would have been the first to warmly welcome a visiting President. That honor has now been besmirched by these unfortunate comments.

The Archbishops words did not make a bad situation better. Rather they only added to an already inflammatory atmosphere. One would think that any faithful Catholic would warmly welcome anyone who wished to visit a shrine dedicated to a saint.

I cannot fathom what prompted this statement.

Cdl. O’Boyle was a lion. Cannot say much about the next two. A traditionalist priest of my acquaintance described Cdl. Wuerl thus: “nasty guy”.

I cannot fathom what prompted this statement.

Malicious stupidity is a good an explanation as any. That’s who they are these days. What did the Kentucky bishops have to say about Nicholas Sandmann et al, on very little information?

I don’t see that happening. Still, this whole thing is a shame.

This is disgusting coming from a Prince of Christ’s church. I could not be more ashamed, particularly since the story spread by the enemedia is false. Bishop Gregory is a hireling. Shame on him.

We need a internet meme Six Degrees of Theodore McCarrick. As in, how many steps does it take to link the Bishop responsible to the idiocy of the day to McCarrick.

No princes here.

Gregory’s attitude can be described in one word: divisive.

I bet Twain could swear like a sailor. I imagine he would say this about the mayors and human jetsam they are enabling to wreck their blue hell holes: “criminals, idiots, dumber than fleas.”

Yes, Democrat (Commie) Bishop for the godless and the perverted. He fits well with Bergoglio our so called “Pope”.

Who are the leaders of the Catholic Church? Where are they?

My diocese’s newspaper is gas lighting in the same vein today.
Weird, since of the two high schools in my city, one is multiracial, and the other run by the Bishop is 99% white at a cost of $60K for four years.

Reprehensible. Is he a “prince” of the Church or an “enemy”?
Chris C. pointed out, “Equally disturbing is the notion that someone can be declared “unworthy” to visit a Catholic shrine, or presumably a Catholic church.”
An excellent point. But haven’t our Bishops declared all of the lowly laity unworthy to enter “their” churches over last three months? I was quietly praying in St. Mary’s in Alexandria a few weeks ago (perhaps they forgot to lock the front door?). Only one other lay person was in the whole church. A young Priest interrupted my prayer and said I had to leave because they were about to celebrate Mass. What???

The Archbishop was appointed to keep Wuerl’s mismanagement buried. He will do so flawlessly. As Art points out, he is a company man.

And all of the prominent figures appointed by the current pontiff in the States are bourgeois gentlemen who share the tastes and views of Western elites. They are quick to send up virtue-signalling flares to remind the elites of their conformity to the current order.

Meanwhile, their flocks dwindle and there is nary a working-class member of them below the age of 70. The latter can tell when they aren’t wanted.

What are Trump’s chances in the next consistory?
Does Canon Law permit a “Draft “movement? Or is that option reserved for the Holy Spirit and the St. Galen mafia?

“Fortunately there are still real Catholics around: …”
The introduction to yesterday’s edition of ‘Scripture and Tradition’ by Fr, Mitch Pacwa was edifying and heartwarming to hear. Subject was the recent events. He held up the fifth (not killing in all its ramifications), seventh (not stealing etc.), and eighth (not bearing false witness in its countless applications) Commandments of our Lord.

Gregory is Wuerl’s tool. Wuerl was put in charge in Washington because he would keep McCarrick’s crimes buried. The loathing I have for Donald Wuerl can not be calculated. He is a documented liar. Gregory is a simpleton.

The US Catholic bishops are, as a body, a bunch of wimpy Leftist welfare-state pinheads. Michael Voris has exposed the lot of them at Church Militant. I don’t need the likes of Wilted Gregory to tell me what John Paul II wanted or meant.

It’s been stated that Gregory was a frequent guest at McCarricks Thanksgiving table. I don’t know if true or not but he certainly was very liberal when in Atlanta.
